I heard about their plans maybe a month ago and i deleted all my stuff there and left youtube forever. I also already had deleted my gmail before that. I now use freetube on my pc and libretube on my phone.

It's tiring to have to take measures to make sure you can use the internet as it used to be, though. I feel like i have a digital armor with ghostery, encrypted email, foss software, etc, etc...

Just commenting to say how nice it is of you to be that caring about your neighbor.

Slightly off topic maybe, but it dawned on me that what happens in this tale is not so different from what happens in Iran...and that made it even more terrifying, together with what is happening in the US with all those creepy right-wingers taking away women's rights bit by bit

Compassion, empathy, loving and respecting nature, and certain things like the absence of racism/sexism, etc. And we absolutely wanted them to be free to choose their own lives. They are adults and i feel we succeeded. When they were in puberty, they did some things that made me confident that those raging hormones might be hellish, but they would come out of it as decent grown ups. That made me feel less uncertain about being a parent. One example: none of us kill insects; indoors they will be carefully catched in a cup and released outdoors.

No, i don't block all bots. In fact, there are bots that i highly appreciate, like the Tl;dr bot, the bot that lists trending communities, and more.

Yes exactly, that works fine. As i understand it, there are microscopic 'bristles' at the end of each thread, which gives it that mild scrub effect. Adding fabric softener or other things destroy the bristles, permanently.

Microfiber cloth. They are easy to wash, just don't add fabric softener or chlorine and don't put them in the dryer.

Though i agree with you, i never feel like 'i'm only one person'. For instance, if someone turns off the lights and recycles their trash, they often say; how does it help, i'm only one person after all. But there are so many people thinking the exact same thing and together we can help change the world.

So, yes, companies should be changed and i think this is also about politics and economics, which are usually conservative and greedy. But i never feel like the things i do are in vain; i'm standing with perhaps millions of invisible people who care about the environment and try to do their best and who all might be thinking; i'm only one person. Many people do want to change and try their best, but it's time that all these conglomerates are being forced to change for real, instead of getting subsidized, and just greenwash their products.

I'm not saying consumers are not to blame, but i have objections against the phrasing; as if it's primarily blaming consumers. I myself am not quite a minimalist, but do have strong tendencies in that direction. So, i never cared about fashion, or buying the newest gadgets. And i know there are people who are the complete opposite. However, i do feel that companies fuel the greed of consumers big time.

While consumers need to educate themselves/be educated by their caretakers and schools, i feel the heart of the matter is the marketing culture and the tendency of companies of hiding shady practices, like profiting from child slaves who have to mine precious metals, or women slaving away in factories for long hours, while risking their lives and bodies due to unsafe machinery, buildings and being bullied by their employees employers, for a shamefully low salary. Yes, blame it on the consumer and not on the companies that spend an incredible amount of money to first hire marketeers that think all day long of the best way to push 'new' products, and then run costly campaigns to spread the word.

According to my records i've had Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. Apart from a sore arm and maybe a bit tired, i thankfully had no other symptoms.
