Huge swathes of Lemmy are deeply transphobic. I've never seen such bullshit on Reddit. I agree there are more communists, and that's great, but unfortunately there are a lot of politically engaged and deeply ignorant people running large instances.

That's weird, I think of Janeway as the least empathetic captain. She denied the doctor's humanity against his will, and gave 7/9 humanity by force without trying to understand its own perspective.

It's sad and hilarious that people hear "zero waste" and think "I need to take aaaaall my cans to the recycling center and compost my scraps", when the waste that is actually destroying the biosphere is the exhaust from your car. If we're talking about "doing lower waste", the first priority is to stop driving a car. Recycling bottles and composting scraps is the thing we can afford to do imperfectly. But not cars, ditching cars is the big important thing and the first step to sustainability.

I don't blame the artist who originally drew that poster, but I do think she could have played it smarter than to give a AAA gaming company the rights to a controversial and nuanced satire of transphobia. The result of that is kind of inevitable when you consider the capitalist context of big companies like CDPR. I totally want to see political media exploring these issues in indie games, but trusting big corporations to have a nuanced discussion of the most delicate trans issues is a bad idea. A cis woman with a glowing dildo up her pants on CDPR's Twitter was kind of inevitable
