  • Can we meaningfully say that performance has improved over time when games are getting more graphically intensive and wasting all that potential? I would say a Nintendo DS running Tetris has more performance than a PS5 running that new Bethesda game

  • The chemicals aren't the important part, it's the information. Artificial neural networks already have emotions, and while general purpose thinking machines (AKA computers) don't have emotions, they do have thoughts. Obviously. Because they're fucking thinking machines.

  • Bees are a democracy. Sure, they treat outsiders with suspicion and can be radicalised to great violence, but they're one of the only animals on earth that eats without killing anything, not even a plant. And if they don't like their queen, they have a revolution. They're communists.

  • A lot of bending ability comes down to personality. Being adaptable, forceful, consuming, or evasive makes you good at bending. Being rigid, timid, pacifist, or stubborn makes you bad at bending. Katara sucked at waterbending when the show started because she was a stickler for the rules. She always had a nurturing element, but she also had to learn to go with the flow. Toph was a child prodigy at earthbending because she has an incredibly forceful personality. But it's not something her parents taught her, she had to cultivate it within herself.

It is the duty of the Avatar to embody the wisdom of each element and to undergo the personal growth to be able to see things from everyone's perspective. Korra's situation is basically normal. Aang is the weirdo for being a timid pacifist who struggled with earth and fire.

  • Swiping can be hard for a 90 year old with arthritis or anyone with a lot of other physical disabilities. For all the work Apple has put into marketing the iPhone as the accessible option, I'd rather give great grandpa an android in 2023.

  • The problem is very simple. Israel and their neoliberal allies want you to think the only sides are Israel and Hamas. But you and I support the third side, the civilians. You simply have to redefine the argument. You tell them, "I am against Israel. And I'm against Hamas too. I've picked my side, and it's the innocents".
