  • I mean, it fixes the problem someone asks about or it doesn't. If the ownership is transparent I don't see much issue. If you ask a question about the print speed of PLA+ at 205C on a PrusaXL and @BambuOfficial replies that it's 200mm/s (and it's wrong) but their Carbon prints at 500mm/s, then they get DV'ed and the mod determines if they're being a little bitch about things. Its a bit like open source - if there's enough eyes and enough participation, someone will note the correction and flag the post as malicious/advertising/assholerly.

If @JosefPrusa replies that it's 250mm/s currently and the next firmware that is getting released in a month will include adaptive heat profiling for 275mm/s, that's both useful information and marketing...and probably a welcome official response from a manufacturer.

  • See, I'm okay with a business having an account and offering assistance. They should not advertise or proselytize, though I think a basic announcement of a new product is in a gray area.

  • Unless your computer doesn't have the knowledge base, training, or connections/features necessary to solve your problem. I lost access to my email last week because I forgot to update my nameserver when my provider switched servers. It's not that I didn't know what to do or how to do it, but I couldn't log into my registrar account because it uses an email as a quasi-2FA challenge. I ended up needing a human to send me a 2FA(-ish) code via my on-file phone rather than via email so I could update my MX records. There was no need for me to talk to an actual human to get that alternate method, an AI chat-bot could have performed that function.

  • So, is it better to die of an APU attack or from handgun shots because you post your daily runs to Strava? Asking for a friend.

  • Ivanka? Ok. She’s hot. I could deal with that.

So you're admitting you do have something in common with The Donald?

  • It baffles me how people seem fixated on the gamification of a discussion and payment system, as if somehow we're not adults who can see that the servers cost money, they provide us value, and we should help defray the costs (directly, through donations/payments). Clear/transparent information on instance costs and available funding is all we really need. For the instance owners it would be nice to have some built in code to provide this as a common location so they can disseminate the info with as little additional effort as possible, ideally with hooks to several payment systems they can connect - esp given the global nature of the platform.

  • Somewhere between 25 and 26 would be perfect for me.

  • Nice to see another fan of the Shatner Comma on the fediverse.

  • Microsoft Word...

That's neither an opinion nor petty; those are just straight facts.

  • Bluetooth for audio might be the worst implementation of a specification every devised. Ridiculous lag, no multipoint connection, no ability to manage or negotiate connections from the device, limited ability to define the connection (audio vs headset among the culprits). BT for audio just seems like a cruel joke.

  • I would like to add a second level of financial support to allow downvotes, say $10, an invisible downvote for $20, and a special Gold Star vote that you can buy individually which is also worth ten upvotes. Of course, if we implement Gold Stars I would like a FullOfShit award as well and a SilentButDeadly award which isn't shown but resets the counter to -1 any time the vote would otherwise go positive.

Let make kbin a place just like the real world - where money buys influence!
