  • If it's a legitimate threat, it's not a distraction. It's called "flooding the zone" and it's intentional, but it's mean to overwhelm us in general with the sheer amount of bullshit he spews.

But don't make the mistake that this is a distraction. He's opening a path to strip anyone he dislikes of citizenship and exile them to a foreign death camp. This is deadly serious and should not be ignored.

  • Actual protest. Not just walking around with a sign.

    • Organize
    • Create civil disturbances. Obstruct roads
    • Dump manure, garbage, sand to block their activities
    • Team up to form walls of people to block ICE or police
    • Organize
    • Sabotage their vehicles and equipment to prevent them kidnapping people

    But most importantly, organize.

Any of those will be more productive than mocking someone on the internet as a "tough guy" for wanting to improve things. You'd just sit there content with yourself thinking nothing could be done while fascism comes for you.

  • So glad that No Kings Day protest stopped Trump in his tracks. One day of protest on a convenient weekend with signs and a catchy chant sure stopped them.

They are trying to strip your rights and take over your country every day of every week non-stop for 6 months now. You have to fight back with the same intensity. A few protests with signs have not stopped them, and will not ever stop them. They don't care how far you walk down Main St. You have to actually protest. Look at the French. They dump manure in the streets. They block traffic and commerce.

Organize. Strike. Protest. Resist. Or you'll have nothing left.

  • This notion that tariffs will drive manufacturing and production back to the U.S. is a pipe dream, and even if it were to occur it would take a decade to build the factories, infrastructure, and supply lines.

And on top of that the counter-tariffs will make it even worse. Manufacturers would have to make their products within the US and suffer tariffs trying to sell to everyone else. That would given them ~350 million people inside the US to sell to, and literally everyone else would pay higher prices. They could never compete against that. So not only does it take a long time, stable economic conditions to invest in, but they would be restricting their market severely if they brought manufacturing onshore.

Still, the Canadian economy is heavily tied to the US. They're going to tank their own, but it's going to hurt us up here too.

  • Canada @lemmy.ca

Now that US food isn't being tested for safety, why are we still allowing it to be sold?

Opinion: Brace yourselves: whatever crazy, awful things Trump may have done to date, it’s only going to get worse

What's a last name (family/surname) that you think is cool?
