  • As with all religious stuff, that's just your opinion. The sahih bukhari suggests otherwise, putting music in the same vein as 'illegal sexual intercourse' (and wearing silk, cuz why not lmao)

  • That's no justification for showing any kind of support for a violent, regressive religion that idolizes a pedo prophet.

  • The Dutch government already made an official mastodon instance: social.overheid.nl

The Netherlands just can't stop being based

  • That is a very good way of putting it

  • Took a look, that's both hilarious and sad. They really have nothing better to do huh

Lemmy needs better bot security. Seems like kbin does.

  • Honestly? That's great. It's stress-testing Lemmy and, to an extent, ActivityPub.

Growing pains. It's just gonna improve Lemmy in the long term.

If you don't like it, use another smaller instance like lemmy.zip or lemm.ee. You know, the entire point of decentralization.

  • I hope this keeps up. Nothing would be better than corpo-owned social media dying out.

Very bad for some people like artists in the short term, specially if they haven't made an account somewhere else yet, but a centralized platform's eventual decline and death is inevitable to begin with, really. Twitter's is just happening much faster than expected.

Mastodon really needs to step up its ease-of-use though. For one, the apps should auto-assign users to instances based on their selected interests (letting them change it of course). It also has lots of minor inconveniences like the reply and like counts only showing interactions from your own instance, unlike Lemmy. Both Lemmy and Mastodon also have major discoverability issues right now.

Firefish looks great though, and I hope Bluesky's protocol makes itself compatible with ActivityPub, even if with a bridge between the two.

  • Ig this 'god' thing needs to punish itself too then lol

  • Just disable nsfw in your settings?

Non nsfw instances like blahaj also have porn comms, you just don't see them in your feed because they're not as popular as the ones in lemmynsfw.

Defederating well moderated instances like lemmynsfw ultimately does nothing but harm Lemmy overall

  • I get what you mean but we're still very much in the early days of Lemmy and the Fediverse right now lol

  • 'Rewrite it in Rust' isn't a joke anymore

  • That sounds horribly inconvenient and reminds me of how it's like installing apps on windows.

  • No idea who prince is except he's a musician but "the site formerly known as Twitter" sounds hilarious

  • For my use case (browsing art and comics, mainly japanese), Mastodon's actually proving to be a worthy substitute. Some of the people I follow have already moved to it and Misskey

Most haven't yet, but the tight-knit feel it has now isn't too bad.

I post on both, but mainly browse Mastodon and encourage others to do the same.

  • I'd much rather have twitter than threads, as bad as it may be

  • Yup. I think the conclusion is obvious, as my comment indicates, so there's not much need to compare them here.
