  • Kind of interested to see what these look like. Especially the Xbox One version.

  • Yeah I've been a paid subscriber for about two years now. Got to be honest though, I've got no idea what I'm getting with that, I just wanted to support the dev because I think his site is sweet.

  • Pubs are dying. So I'm' not sure making them no-go area for people looking to get a bite to eat with the family is a great move.

The reason people don't go to the pub anymore isn't because the Smiths brought their kids along for a lunch at 2pm, it's because it's expensive, full of drunk people and all in a bit of a sh*t experience.

  • I've just this evening started playing Hogwarts Legacy. Spent most of my time tweaking it to get it to run as well as I think it can do.

  • How does Elden Ring run on it? I've already played it on Xbox but I'm thinking a second play through might be in order on the Steamdeck.

  • Right now?

“I feel thin, sort of stretched, like butter scraped over too much bread.”

    Yeah. It's going good.

  • I use GGapp.io to track my video game stuff. They have a wishlist feature and iirc you can add notes to the page. Doesn't track prices though.

    GGApp.io

  • I'm probably not the target demo for Nintendo, but I won't lie...the Switch feels very long in the tooth at this point.

Great concept, great delivery, but it's showing its age and it's time for an upgrade at the very least.

  • I've got a Kobo Sage and I love it. My only complaint is that it doesn't have the depth of accessories that you can get with the Kindle Paperwhite.

  • Came here for this comment.

Superhot is an absolute incredible videogame and I'm kind of stunned we've not seen more in that style.

  • The Forgotten City definitely got it's due last year. It was on an awful lot of people's GOTY lists. Which was warranted, because it's really really solid.

  • Without wishing to turn this isn't an anti-Starmer thing, I can't help but wonder how much this could have been avoided if the leader of the opposition was more....firm in his commitments a few days ago.

  • Impeachment by Jon Meacham - Read this one last year and it was likely my favourite read of the year. It lays out the case against each of the three (at the time) Presidents to have been impeached (or in Nixon's case, soon to be Impeached). Absolutely fascinating.

Leadership in Turbulent Times by Doris Kearns Goodwin - This one is more personal. It focuses on three Presidents, their careers, how they came to be where they were and how their 'biggest' moments came to define them.

That's all I've read so far, although I've only been 'interested' in this as a subject for about three years. Hope it helps.

  • I've got a few recommendations regarding presidents.

Gimsons Presidents: Brief Lives from Washington to Trump - Each President get a few pages, and whilst it's not as 'hard hitting as some of this list, it does have some very fun writing, and really nice art as well.

The Presidents by C-SPAN - They take the most recent C-SPAN Presidential poll and dedicate time to each president based on their ranking. A lot of it is transcribed from audio interviews, but it's still a solid read if you're looking to get a grip on these guys.

The Presidents: 250 Years of American Leadership (By Ian Dale) Another round up, but this is perhaps more..... current than the C-SPAN book as it takes newly created essays written exclusively for this book.

The Complete Book of US Presidents - More of an encyclopaedia than anything. It's massive, but it covers everything from First Lady's to Inaugural speaches.

Could probably find a few more if you're interested?

  • They don't mind us being spied on, provided it's not the Chinese doing the spying I guess?

  • Iirc it was also one of the larger releases for that new platform that was desperate for the sort of experience that can shift consoles.

I wonder how many people have already played it on PS5 and just aren't interested in a second go around.

  • Agreed. It gets to the point where if anything, it's inhibitive to growth because people just zip right on past it before ultimately unsubscribing.

  • The funded care was already a mess, adding more strain is only going to compound the issue. Biggest one for me is that the government don't pay the nursery's enough per child, so they're forced to pass the costs onto parents.

Which might be fine if one set of parents are getting significantly cheaper childcare than they would have previously, but if you're entitled to the 30 funded hours (like us) you end up in a spot where the hours are technically free, but the charges on top push it out of reach, which sort of defeats the purpose of the entire operation.

  • I'm dreading the next election cycle. It got so bad that I ultimately decided to get off of twitter last year. Too much politics can be a bad thing, especially for one's mental health.

  • Gotta be honest, I was as pro-remain as they came, but even I've grown tired of talking about it.
