It would definitely be nice to have some image retention policy. If an image hasnt been accessed in say 6 months its probably safe to say I won’t care about it. And if need be it can pull it from the original server again.

I filter out tiktok on my home firewall. There is absolutely nothing worth seeing on it.

And yet theres never any construction crew there working. A conspiracy theory I have is thats how they store traffic cones when not in use. Just shut down 1-2 lanes of a freeway for several miles.

So glad youtube has these kinds of channels and its not all just clickbait cringey trash. I wish there were a browser plugin or something to filter out reaction videos and anything where there’s a gen-Z-er just straight overreacting and yelling at their phone

100% That video where he voice changes as an old lady and convinces a scammer that she wont use any piece of technology because she was afraid of the robot uprising was gold. His ability to improv like 3-4 people on the phone switching voice changers seamlessly is amazing

This. Your /etc/default/grub file is probably not formatted right. That i915.enable_psr=0 param is probably on its own line, it needs to go in the kernel boot params line

weird. doesnt work for me either. Lemmy.world had some recent downtime maybe some functionality is still broken atm.

it could be that the two instances cant talk to each other, or are perhaps rate limited. Are you able to connect from a different source instance?

You might need to click search a couple times. It usually only takes a few seconds but if the other server is down or they can’t otherwise can’t communicate temporarily or otherwise you might not be able to find it.

then at the moment lemmy.world is the largest one. Its run by mastodon.world admins and is still relatively oerformant and reliable given its size. Lemmy is growing rapidly and that could change very suddenly any day now.

Im pretty happy with protonmail. Email is kind of important you may not want to go with the cheapest option.

I think we’ll get there soon. Right now AI voice is close but it still sounds a little unnatural/off. Getting better by leaps and bounds really quick though.

At some point we are going to have movies created entirely by AI, even the film itself is auto generated.

Remember a lot of even the largest lemmy instances are hosted on a single vps. No redundancy, no scaling, and the admins barely know what they’re doing. Its volunteer work done as cheaply as possible.

Usually your OS will just send dns requests to both servers at once and just accept whichever responds first. UDP isnt very smart.

I ditched windows 12 years ago and never looked back. Its gotten easier every year and I rarely if ever have to tinker with anything. It just works. Ive had the same arch (btw) install the whole time just moving the image to new computers whenever I upgrade hardware.
