  • Speculation. Everyone is hoping that the memecoin will get them rich like Doge did for some people because of the lulz.

Using the Hawk Tuah girl/memecoin as the most recent example, average people buying into it were hoping it would increase in value because of other people wanting it just for the sake of it being a funny meme at one time. The devs behind the memecoin were along the same thought process, but there seems to be some speculation they had some malicious intent and might have scammed people. About 80% of the coin is held up with the devs which meant there wasn’t a lot of room for it to actually grow.

  • I just gave away my Chromebook to someone who was affected by a local natural disaster and I ended up putting Linux Mint on it for them.

I think that distro would get you this experience.

Honestly, I’d recommend getting a used laptop. Get one that’s 5 years or newer. You don’t need the best hardware, so as little as 4GB of RAM and 128GB SSD should suit you fine. But you can get more if you’d like for better performance. You shouldn’t have to pay anymore than $150 USD for something like this in my area. Your area may vary, depending on availability. I’d recommend staying away from HP only because I have encountered issues in the past with them making it slightly more difficult than others to install another OS than Windows on. It’s not impossible, but they just do stuff that adds an extra layer.

If you’d like something else other than Linux Mint, I’d suggest looking into Ubuntu, PopOS, Vanilla OS, for some other very friendly, lite versions of Linux that are easy to set up and very good for basic tasks.

  • Which model is that?? I love my gas blowbacks for the realism feel and sound. Had no idea they had any with shell ejection.

I have a gas Kriss Vector blowback. I always wanted one and shelled out $300 for a used one after they were discontinued off eBay. I’ve gotten a lot of other players commenting on it when at the fields.

  • I recently took a test and passed it without studying.

This was a Microsoft exam for getting a certification relating to my job.

It’s really because I work in this daily and I know the program in and out enough that I am the one who teaches my colleagues how to use it at work. I was given some instruction by some colleagues and built on that and also watched videos and learned things as I worked in it.

It’s probably a similar thing for people like this in school too. Some people learned this stuff in earlier years. I remember being in college and some of the stuff being taught was stuff I had already learned before, even as early as 3rd grade in one of my English classes. Then there are also people who have a passion for some subjects and have gone above and beyond in learning the subject outside of school that they’ve already learned what’s being taught in the class. Likely been invested in YouTube videos and making them, themselves, reading various books on the subject, may even have a parent who wrote those books or been heavily involved in the subject, etc.

  • Thanks for the concern and information, but I’m clear of that disorder by a professional lol.

It’s not something I often think about, but it comes up. I think there’s a practical reason behind it when it does come up but I’d risk doxing myself if I go into detail.

  • I feel that when looking in the mirror. I sometimes can’t believe that is me. It feels weird, like I’m in someone else’s body and this hasn’t actually been my life.

Makes me wonder if life is a Twilight Zone episode for me and I just keep waking up as other people but can’t remember it for some reason.

  • It definitely happens here. I actually was surprised it could be detected on Reddit and they did anything because I’ve seen it on Lemmy first before ever hearing about it on Reddit.

But I’ve heard it happen more so for users who are downvoting posts. I’ve heard both users downvoting on a large scale in a particular community as well as people downvoting a single post. Both receiving bans from mods of those communities.
