  • We should assume that our chats/calls are being recorded on services like this. But why exactly is this done? Seems like it leaves a lot of liability on their end and then added costs for the storage of all that data.

Are they required to or are they selling the data?

  • I began snoring when I started gaining weight. So it’s likely common among people like myself that are not in the healthiest of state. But getting healthier will reduce it for myself.

I didn’t use to snore at all prior to gaining weight. I let myself go for a few years but getting back to it now to get in shape.

  • I pulled out my Steam Deck just now to confirm because I wanted to be sure I’m being accurate.

But yeah, on low, I was able to get up to 60 but it looks like now I’m getting high 50 fps on low settings. But I remember getting 60 at some point because I remember being surprised and amazed it could handle that and for specific amounts of time! I’m wondering if a new update may have changed this. This was prior to their update with ray tracing when I was getting 60 fps.

On medium settings, I’m getting high 40 fps running about the city and even in combat. Still pretty and very stable looking at these frames.

This is all outside of the DLC area, where I got much less before.

The Steam Deck is an amazing device! The fact it can generate these results at all is pretty amazing. I’m curious how it compares to the Switch 2 in this. It will be interesting to see someone do a direct comparison between the two.

  • Same here. There’s been a few games I’ve seen on here recently that look interesting, even some “indie” titles, but as soon as I get to the Steam page and it lists online only, I’ve lost all interest.

    Miss me with that bullshit.

  • ABS has worked out pretty well for me even in direct sunlight.

I designed a fun little replacement for this thing on my parents’ gate and it’s still there over 7 years later in all the weather and even intense heat over 110°F on some days.

  • Where did this come from? If a graphics card, it may be difficult to gift it.

I had this happen a short time ago where I got a new GPU and they gifted me a game I already owned and I tried giving it away on here and found that I had to run through all these time based verifications and basically only I could redeem it.

If you have just the Steam key, you can give that to someone and they can claim the game and that’s that. But you may not want to post it directly on somewhere because bots are known to roam the internet and steal them first to sell them on weird websites.

  • I’m not familiar on that platform, unfortunately, as I’m on iPhone.

But I think you should still be able to use virustotal’s website on mobile to check websites and also files.

There may be a sandbox app available for Android, but I’m not aware of any particular ones to recommend.

  • You can check URLs and files at virustotal.com for free.

If you have Windows 10/11 Pro and your computer supports virtualization, you can enable the Windows Sandbox in Windows Features too. This creates a temporary virtual machine with the bare essentials and no antivirus built in for testing stuff like this to see what the worst case scenario is if you visited/accessed.

  • I used all 3 for a few years a short time ago until I traded my aging MacBook for a newer iPad Pro. I still think about going back but for a Mac Mini on the side of my gaming PC.

But then I feel like it’s more of a gimmick. It’s that feeling I get to just spend for the sake of spending to get something new and shiny, not necessarily because I need or would actually use it for anything I don’t use the others for. I didn’t do much different on there. It was nice for some situations when the other computers (let’s be honest, it was always the Windows PC) would act up like fixing a bad partition.

But now I am good enough with Windows and Linux. Doing my best to move solely to Linux, but VR and work keep me back. Ugh…

  • Microsoft does this to our users at my job. They go to charge their password and it won’t accept it but won’t tell them what the requirements are. “Your password doesn’t meet our criteria.” Okay, so what are you looking for???

Worst is that there seems to be a soft block at some point and instead of telling them that, it shows this dumb error instead over and over again no matter what password they choose.

  • Happens to me in meetings all the time. I messed it up for my team a few months ago and my manager had me and a few others turn on our cameras because he thought I wasn’t paying attention.

I kind of was, but kind of wasn’t. It’s hard in a meeting of 9 people who spend 5 minutes each talking about things that have nothing to do with me but I have to pay attention in case I do have input to share.

  • I just spent a few minutes browsing and it was pretty fun! Love the very minimalist design and no requirements to sign up, etc. Just straight to the point for both those asking and those selecting.

    Nice job all around!

  • Yeah I’m not sure if it’s confirmation bias for me, but I always see cars with this sign doing the dumbest shit on the road. I’ve always chalked it up to self important people who think being a parent means they’re God’s gift to humanity, but I like your optimistic view on it better.
