Anyone who has made copies of videotapes knows what happens to the quality of each successive copy. You're not making a "treasure trove." You're making trash.
I bet Elmo has all kinds of cool ideas for making the government "more efficient." Like not going after billionaires to pay their share of the tax burden.
I'm actually enjoying the Linux learning curve because I know it's not working against my interests.
On the other hand, every time I've had to go "under the hood" with Windows (Registry settings, config files) it's been to prevent Microsoft from doing something sh*tty to me.
Microsoft also wants to use 50 gigabytes of your hard drive space (for the Recall snapshots) and make you buy AI co-processors or their software won't work. They want to use your property to create their own Skynet.
A lot of these streaming services are ultimately owned by the same company. Ever had a favorite show, where only seasons 1,3 and 5 are available on one "service" and only seasons 2 and 4 are available on the other? This lets the owner of the series double-dip customers on subscription fees.
I grew up watching WW2 movies and the Nazis were never shown as being anything other than Bad Guys. I would love to know how anyone grows up here in the U.S. and doesn't know that.
Also, almost every older game, like Deus Ex or Giants: Citizen Kabuto, I can run separately under Wine. The only game that doesn't quite work is NOLF 1. No music. (I can't seem to get DirectMusic working properly in Wine yet).
