  • Crazy religious people seem to often think that any intuition or sudden insight they have is God speaking to them. I think it's one of the big reasons they seem to always think God wants them to do exactly what they already wanted anyway.

  • The media’s fake. I came up with the term a long time ago and they won’t talk about it.

It's an interesting low to claim he invented the Nazi's "Lügenpresse"

If I did some of the things that he did, they’d would reinstitute the death penalty.

And there's the casual mention (while not explicitly saying it) of killing his political opponents.

  • That was some classic business pressure tactics. The sort of thing a massive multinational corporation would have a lot of experience in. The sort of thing a massive multinational corporation suddenly blindsided by this with a lot of financial interest in the situation would be interested in doing....while at the same time mitigating risk by trying to pull those same employees into the parent company if things don't go their way.

Edit: Now that I think about it, they also managed to get the vast majority of employees to 'join together' on the issue making it (psychologically) easier for them to 'join together' in choosing where to jump ship to. Maybe I'm just paranoid, but it's just a really clever move on Microsoft's part.

  • I don’t want all of humanity’s creative works that have ever been posted online to be repurposed and repackaged by a new technology and then sold.

Me neither. But unless it's the "by a new technology" part that really bothers you, this is a capitalism problem, not AI.

  • This is an extremely unpopular opinion, but I just hate copyright as a concept to begin with. Yes I want creators to own their own work and be able to profit from it....but that's not even how it works now. Like 10 companies own all the popular IPs, many don't even do anything with them. They hire artists, tell them to make stuff and because they are on payroll the company owns it. Fan fiction already exists and rarely do they get confused with the original. I'm not concerned about big companies stealing the little guys work because those big companies most of the time can't even manage to make interesting concepts out of their existing work with the benefit of already owning the creations of thousands of artists.

All so Mickey Mouse could be covered under copyright for 100 fucking years.

Edit: I have apparently misunderstood the popularity of this opinion.

  • So a Board member wrote a paper about focusing on safety above profit in AI development. Sam Altman did not take kindly to this concept and started pushing to fire her (to which end he may or may not have lied to other Board members to split them up). Sam gets fired for trying to fire someone for putting safety over profit. Everything exploded and now profit is firmly at the head of the table.

I like nothing about this version of events either.

  • Well yes, that is the dishonest "plausible deniability" he frequently uses for exactly this sort of thing.

It's just a super crazy coincidence that he keeps talking about destroying democracy and linking articles discussing himself as a literal dictator.

  • Super-hearing. Imagine if you really could hear conversations a block away, it can be hard enough discerning one conversation in a crowded room, imagine it being like that everywhere. All the rats and insects you will be hearing, the sound of people’s clothes rubbing together. Even if normally loud things aren’t deafening just focusing on one thing will be taxing.

Super hearing would essentially be tinnitus with some variety in the inescapable noise.

  • I think there are two parts to this:

1 - obvious projection based on what’s already known about him

2 - using the words ‘destroy’ and ‘democracy’ in the same sentence to his cult...just to get the idea of destroying our democracy into the ol' zeitgeist

  • "I don't have any theories that make sense," Paskalis says. "There is a revenue model in his head that eludes me."

You don't need a complex business model for this to make sense. The man has had "fuck you money" his entire life. Things are finally not going his way and he only has one way to respond..... by saying "fuck you" to the people he doesn't like.
