  • One where the rich pay more tax then they currently do now. Also slap a carbon tax on these fuckers and use the cash to fund climate mitigation / adaptation.

  • Yep when I first saw this study my initial thought was that mutual obligations should have been considered as a key variable in the relationship between suicide and unemployment. I think people who have never been on mutual obligations really struggle to understand just how fucking toxic they are to people's mental health.

  • I honestly wish Brisbane would do the same with the Olympics.

  • As a severely mentally ill disabled person I don't think suicide should be the solution to a neoliberal society that refuses to adequately support the vulnerable. But honestly my support needs are not met and I'm so exhausted from trying to fight for them that I wish this was an option in my country. Support our needs or let us have the dignity to leave a world that doesn't want us.

  • I think we underestimate how much normalisation is a survival mechanism. Personally I struggled to acknowledge the 'truth' about my traumatic childhood but I can see now that I did this because it was easier to get through life.

  • Yeah and Iron made Bronze workers redundant.

  • It writes but it doesn't think.

  • Makes me really appreciate the fact that we have a pretty sweet deal in having a public broadcaster in Australia.

  • As a non-american it blows my mind that you have so many fast food companies.

  • I mean regardless of your views on the voice, do you really want conservative fucks like this to get a win right now? Cause they've taken quite a few hits recently and personally I'd like to see them take another one.

  • Teachers and nurses are underpaid and should be paid more because of how important their jobs are to society. Bringing wages down for everyone else is beyond fucking stupid when the same argument can be made about just lifting wages for teachers and nurses.

Teachers and nurses also arguably benefit from wfh. Fewer cars on the road = fewer accidents for nurses to deal with. Parents having better work life balance = more capacity to help their kids learn so teachers are less burdened.

  • Yep fuck mould. I used to live in a property that had water in the roof and mould would grow on every wall and ceiling. Landlords 'solution' to this was buying us a bottle of mould off. When we asked for a rental reduction they rejected it because "every home in Brisbane has mould".

  • People who say ADHD is a super power don't know shit about ADHD. People have different skills and abilities regardless of their neurotype and even if my ADHD did grant me strengths, I don't find this framing particularly helpful. ADHD inertia fucking sucks. Personally I don't have as many issues with things like focus, attention, and organising anymore since taking Ritalin, but inertia is still one of the biggest challenges in my life. It's a seriously under-recognised aspect of ADHD along with rejection sensitivity.

  • If it's anything like the rest of Australia, they'll probably be like 500k for a small patch of ice.

  • I don't think I've ever rented a property that didn't have a problem with mould or shitty insulation.

  • If you lived in Australia calculating this would drive you nuts.

  • As someone with auditory sensitivities this could improve my life so much.
