  • I'm a self-checkout hater, but that's mostly because I'd rather dump my groceries on the conveyor and zone out while someone else gets paid to do the work. If I do self-checkout, I have to do everything myself and then it complains and I have to get staff to come fix it and it's all so stressful.

  • We have only two gas appliances in our home - the gas stovetop and the instant hot water. I definitely want to look at replacing these with induction and something electric for the hot water. We have solar so would prefer to use this if possible. Also considering getting batteries at some point.

    Anyone done something similar?

  • Did you read the article? It's primarily aimed at motorcycle riders and states that rider behaviour is a large contributor to crashes. It urges motorcyclists to slow down and stay attentive, watch for hazards (vehicles and road conditions), keep an eye on traffic that might pull out onto the road in front of you. Seems all reasonable stuff to me.

It's only the last section that's mentions the need for drivers to be careful. And even then it's only "please take a second look" which is always good advice. Always check twice so you don't pull out and hit a motorcycle (or bicyclist, or pedestrian!) that was blocked from your view by the A-pillar when you glanced at traffic.

  • Here in South Australia, we paid $4000 all up for our 6.6 kW solar system just a few years ago. System price was $7600 and we got $3600 back from the STC rebate thingy.

  • For a moment, I was wondering if there was something easier than the ATO's online tax return stuff. But nah, it's just that.

For anyone with simple tax situation (salary, maybe a few deductions here and there), it's definitely the easiest and quickest way.
