  • Why do they capitalize the word black every time?

  • I get it. Finding the answers to super niche questions is just about the only thing I still go to reddit for.

  • Nobody called her a bitch, first off.

No, maybe not, but I'm not sure "she fucked around and found out" is any better of a way to refer to a woman that was just murdered.

Second off, I agree that it’s stupid that as a citizen, we’re expected to keep calm and act rationally in these kinds of situations.

So then why was the woman at fault for getting scared and trying to flee? "She fucked around and found out", huh?

If she ISN’T, we should be discussing how to keep people calmer during these types of police interactions.

No, regardless of if she were guilty of the extremely heinous and dangerous crime of shoplifting (the horror!), what we SHOULD be discussing is why the cop felt the need to draw his gun and point it at the woman for such a small crime (of which he had zero evidence I might add) that could have been handled a million other ways. Drawing a gun on somebody is a direct threat on their life. You may as well yell "obey or die". Under no circumstances should a gun be used so freely. She had every single right to be scared out of her mind and try to escape at that moment.

Even if we go with your opinion of her being a threat to the public, the officers are directly responsible for that and never should have let it get to that point in the first place over a god-damned shoplifting accusation. I mean fucking hell, the victim does not actually start driving forward until the cop is pointing his gun at her and screaming at her to get out of the car. Stop blaming her for the extremely excessive threat (and execution) of a police officer.

  • armed men walk up to innocent woman with guns drawn and scream at her to get out of her car

she gets scared and tries to drive away

oH sHE waS a DAnGer tO tHe PubLiC, SerVEs the BItch riGhT!!

    You're joking, right? Right?

  • Wait, you know people who haven't tried to overthrow the government at least once? What are they even doing with their lives?

  • What the hell were they supposed to say? Should they have agreed that the article was good just because JP is a PoS? Despite the clear and disgusting BS inside it? Is that really what you want?

Misinformation is misinformation and needs to be cleared up, no matter who the target is.

  • I've never really cared for his humor, but Some More News videos are always a good watch. I'll have to watch this one later.

  • The joke doesn't really work here when America is also the one fighting it.

  • Yeah, the Baader–Meinhof phenomenon is fascinating and something that I experience constantly. I would be surprised if that's not what's going on here. I've never experienced it for something as personal and important as doubting my sexuality though, that must be jarring as hell.

  • It's very easy to do once you know what you're doing. This took me like 2 minutes to throw together. I gave the text a background and everything so it should be easily visible no matter the picture's background color.

  • My problem with your watermark is it's basically worthless to anyone who doesn't already know what Lemmy is. Unless I've somehow missed it, nowhere on the watermark does it actually mention Lemmy. A logo by itself is completely worthless if you're not well known. You really ought to add 'join-lemmy.org' in there under the logo imo, which would make it infinitely more useful.

  • Sure, it's a pretty low effort meme considering they didn't even take the time to crop it, but the community hasn't gone to shit just because of one low effort post. What a drama queen lol.

  • Humanity successfully landed another object safety on a celestial object hundreds of thousands of miles away from the Earth. Of course that's impressive.

Plus, they succeeded where Russia failed, which is at least mildly amusing.

  • And language changes with time and culture. A great example of this is the word 'literally'. At this point it's become a synonym of 'figuratively' with younger generations, just about the exact opposite of what it once meant. Some might argue that's just using the word wrong, but if people are able to understand each other when using the word in that way, it's clearly a working definition, no matter how odd.

So even if homophobia meant actually being afraid of gay people at some point, even that would be irrelevant. At the end of the day, the meaning it holds today is the only thing that's important.

  • I'm surprised this is being downvoted so heavily. It's clearly satire. I guess the rest of the thread being completely serious has something to do with it.

  • I eat them hot so that sounds like a great way to permanently melt off my taste buds.

  • True, it can occasionally grab your attention for a few days if you have an immediate goal, but it's more of a background game most of the time. Still thought it was worth bringing up, especially at the mention of runescape!

  • I'm a bigger fan of violatuing the government, personally.

  • If you're into idle games at all, try out Melvor Idle. Costs $10 but you can try it for free on a browser if you want to see what you're getting. It's heavily inspired by RuneScape. Melvor is without a doubt the best idle game I've ever played, so if you're a fan of the genre and aren't afraid of the grind, I'd highly recommend it.
