  • Thank you for the reply. Can you explain the bit about ‘dissolve the Parliament’? What does that entail?

  • Prime Minister Attal? I thought that was Macron?

Can someone ELI5 this system of government for me. I’m in the US where I’ve got a pretty good grasp on our Democratic Republic but I get a little confused by places that have President and Prime Minister. Also what does it mean when they say something like “Keir Starmer will try to form a government….”

  • That was a good one sister

  • It looks like jewelry! Maybe JWelry? Or no. Okay I’ll keep working on that one

  • Sister it’s kinda crazy to me. Lemmy will downvote news posts with credible polls showing Biden dropping, and upvote any questionable source that says otherwise. I’m also a Democrat but to me a credible news story should not be disparaged for saying something I dont want to hear. It doesn’t do any good to hide from the truth. “You must know the enemy in order to meet him on the battlefield”- Sun Tzu or idk maybe I just made that up.

I mean what is pro.morningconsult? I’ve never heard of that ever. And I’ve seen Rueters posts get downvoted! Rueters!

  • I’m trying to remember. I think they had cameras. I know I had the Motorola Razr. Everyone had that phone. I think it had a camera and that was basically it. But everyone has that phone because it looked cool.

  • Lemmy is left leaning but downvotes anything that suggests poll numbers are slipping for Biden, or if people are unsatisfied with his performance. It’s news! Are y’all just downvoting it because you don’t like it?

  • This is my understanding too. After the plant dies it can release that nitrogen. While the legume grows, the benefit of nitrogen is negligible and negated by the fact that the legume is competing in the ground for water and other nutrients. The Three Sisters is a nice idea but there is a reason it’s not common practice. See also ‘companion planting’, the astrology of gardening. What plants want most is room to grow roots.

The best thing to do with legumes is till them under before they go to seed, or add them to compost.

  • I don’t want to see anybody get hurt. Those North Koreans should maybe just stay home.

  • That’s never happened to me unless I had maybe some dirt on my hands or on my body where I rubbed lotion on. Could that be what happened? Maybe some small dirt particles collected lotion and made little bits ?

  • She had antennae like black snakes, and right away I knew she was trouble.

  • You know when you see a minivan completely covered in homemade signs about trump and Jesus and illuminati and stuff? Like it looks so unhinged that you just feel bad for the mental health of the person driving it?

That’s what this ad looks like. It looks like how Trump thinks. Unwell.

  • Same! And then it even started the same way. I was already laughing at a good prank

  • I called them that too. I think I remember a Flintstones one.

  • Well I for one did not know that actually!

  • I bet they were remembering the story of the Egyptian Archaeologists who discovered a jar of honey and they all had a taste. Then they found a fetus in the jar.

Oh you know what- Snopes says it didn’t happen! It’s maybe just an urban legend.

  • Maybe it’s not surprising but as an X-ray tech we wear a badge that records our radiation exposure. Every quarter it gets read and if our exposure is too high I can’t work anymore. Maybe for the rest of the year, maybe forever. I’ve never heard of that actually happening though.
