  • *Privateering (a legitimate and respectable profession)

Let's keep the standards high...and the cutlasses sharp.

  • over here you get up to 7 other patiens in the same, unventilated room. Including patients who have air-transmittable infections

That's a surprisingly apt description of Hell, at least for me.

My friend was at a much nicer hospital, albeit they didn't see anything made of gold. They had their own room. It certainly wasn't paradise; I think the recovery from sepsis gave them a clarity of mind and purpose that transcended the casual discomforts. Plus they were medevac'd 400km from their home, so they were more socially isolated than normal. Sort of like a monastic experience? Thankfully they have excellent insurance, so the medical costs weren't a giant concern like they would be for most people in the US, which probably would have been mentally debilitating otherwise.

  • My best friend spent a week in the hospital with a life-threatening condition. Besides the almost dying part, it was the most relaxing and life-refocusing event of their adult life and they're grateful to have experienced it. A forced reset and some compulsory solitude can be a blessing sometimes.

Were I to ever go to prison, I think I would personally love to get some solitary confinement time.

  • Wilding suggests sprucing up your resume and reconnecting with your professional network so that you’re ready to hit the job market if necessary.

Oh good, more work (that doesn't pay). But hey, at least you'd get to spend more time peacocking shamelessly on LinkedIn to impress that Thiel-sanctioned professional network.

Actually, this advice works pretty well for anyone who is worried about their SO suddenly leaving. Might as well keep your physique and personality in top form while casually keeping the playing field passively curious...

  • According to Tim Urban's blog article on Tesla and Muck from 2015, one of Muck's stated goals was to jumpstart the other auto manufacturers into producing their own EVs to accelerate the trend toward a more sustainable energy future. Whether that was true then or now is irrelevant, but it is nice to see EVs of many brands being made and purchased. Obligatory Fuck Muck, existential disappointment that he will forever be.

  • I'm sure all that arrogance will keep him safe from the people he's about to disenfranchise. The people who have illnesses, diseases, injuries, and chronic pain that make their lives almost not worth living, but thank goodness they have medical care to assuage the suffering just enough. I'm sure those people won't have an axe to grind if someone decided to deride them mercilessly as unproductive societal waste as they're just trying to get through the day without treatment or medication.

  • She's in the elite ruling class, so she gets to do whatever the fuck she wants with impunity while projecting false accusations onto anyone who fits in the 'other' category while her dumbass base of uneducated gerrymandered trolls eats it up.

  • Looking forward to the future where I just think about pizza and it materializes in my mouth.

  • Because civilians are always the most worthy and deserving target of state-sanctioned violence.

  • To be fair, it was probably the US Air Force, not the Army, who flew the planes and dropped the bombs...

  • Peter's puppet will do whatever Peter prescribes. Expecting corporal Bowman to ever do the right thing for the right reason would be a grave mistake.

  • N6 would not burn with a flame: it’s just a burst of energy that generates a large volume [of gas] – so a lot of thrust, and it is non-corrosive

Reminds me of the time I ran a 100m dash 30 minutes after eating a kilo of Taco Bell.

  • I appreciate the deep personal insights and advice. Well taken.

  • Definitely going to be the first drug I try, when I decide to finally start using drugs.

  • Pretty sure with the current ongoing conflicts, WWIII has already kicked off and we just haven't fully accepted it yet.
