  • I'm enjoying !morphmoe@ani.social quite a bit. Basically the concept is, anthropomorphize weird random stuff, except make it cute. I wish there was more diversity in the character design, but it is an anime instance afterall I guess lol

  • Oh, that's clever! I'll have to remember that

  • Yessss i was so confused about this lol!

  • In addition to Loops, there was also Vidzy and Goldfish, but I don't think they still exist?

  • This person clearly comes from the Jean-Henri Faber school of entomology

  • I definitely agree lol, that's why I teach people how in the local library makerspace. We've a really nice Mitutoyo accurate down to 0.02mm!

  • From a big vernier caliper fan, this RULES!! 😍

  • It's definitely been working out for me, for years now. I have two boyfriends, they get along well and also both date other people. There were a few growing pains of course. Overall though, smoother than expected!

  • This rules, can't wait to see how federation works!! It seems like each project shows up in the fediverse as an actor? Like for example this project: @3dc33whtlsnx@3dprint.social

I kind of naively thought they'd show up as posts or something. Maybe what this means is, all the subcontent of the project show up as posts instead? If so, that seems pretty neat! Like potentially the 3d files themselves federate out as posts?

Not sure why I'm wildly speculating when all this is surely documented somewhere lol

  • You can from Mastodon! Not sure from Pixelfed but it seems probable? With mastodon it's something like... you just @ mention the community, and have one separate line at the top to become the post title? I think?

  • It does have groups! And they're even interoperable with Lemmy/PieFed/Mbin groups. The experience is definitely very Facebook like, and there are themes that make it even more so.

On the other hand, every instance I've ever been on has run into serious lag issues and/or collapsed entirely... Hoping that's not universal or else gets fixed soon.

  • Whoaa public instance! That's AMAZING, will definitely be there! ❀

  • The gui installer was roughly about as simple as any other distro I've tried, and stuff generally seemed to work out of the box. There are more packages than one might expect from such a small distro too. Not sure I have any advice specific to Void really, although getting a custom bootloader onto a Chromebook was certainly a trip lol

  • Does Manyfold support SVGs/etc? It seems awesome but it might be self-host only, not sure there are any public instances.

  • Void, because it works really well on my super low-resource chromebook!

  • While i definitely agree, none of this is a deal breaker for me. What is a deal breaker is this: I am on my third Friendica account now because the first 2 instances both started struggling and then collapsed. The one I'm on now is suddenly running very slow, just like the first 2 before the end. It seems to me like maybe they're kinda hard to run?

    Consider trying PHA filament!
