What band, artist, or song do you enjoy listening to that is widely disliked?

Which album? The Marcy’s playground one or crash test dummies?
I’m not a GitHub user, although I’ve done some browsing of open issues. Am I seeing that this feature has been coded (or is actively being coded) or am I just seeing that people are still discussing the issue?
I ask because last time I looked (probably 2-4 weeks ago), I saw some discussion on the issue dating back to over a year ago, but nothing that looked like actual traction on it getting implemented.
A total fine of $25m USD spread across three carriers. I have no idea what the scale is of the mobile providers are in SK. Is $25m much money or is this a US-style slap on the wrist fine (aka “the cost of doing business”)?
The other day I heard sex and candy for the first time in ages. I got immediate nostalgia. The song has a GREAT hook and I totally see why middle school me liked it. Sex. Candy. Cool vibe.
But hearing it now, i quickly realized the lyrics aren’t mysterious/poetic. They are meaningless and had nothing to say except repeating the chorus over and over and over because the words sound good together.
It’s one thing for you to find content that you think is worth posting on lemmy and then duplicating the post here - even using a bot. This requires you to self evaluate whether the content is worthwhile before posting it. It’s another to simply repost all content from a sub without any human evaluation.
The biggest issue I see with bot posts is that they tend to spam the heck out of lemmy. At first I tried blocking bots that I found spammy, but ultimately I disabled seeing bot accounts because I got tired of constantly blocking them individually.
Keep in mind that yes, there is less content here, but that also means that if you make a bot that reposts all (or a lot) of content from active Reddit subs, you are going to inundate peoples feeds. It won’t be a problem for me, because I’ll never see it. But new and less tech savvy users might be annoyed/frustrated by the situation.
when I was seeing bot posts, it didn’t seem like they got any activity. It was a bunch of posts filling up my feed with no comments or activity — Just a bot shouting into the void.
This is exactly my perspective. I understand why people are conceptually concerned, but I’m not really seeing problematic content. Are others (moderators) doing a good job and preventing me from seeing that? Or is it just not happening in the way people are saying?
The one thing that jumps out to me is what appears to be the goal of propagandizing. I understand the goal of discourse, and advocacy. I understand arguing against capitalism and fascism. All of those things can be done in good faith. But I see propaganda as almost inherently bad faith. Is my understanding of the meaning of propaganda incorrect? It very well may be.
Old curmudgeons unite! I totally knew what you meant.
Edit: that said, I would add NVMe SSD as the way to go… although I think that is pretty much all you find these days. Are non-nvme m.2 drives a thing?
Thanks for the details! I’m sorry to say that I don’t know enough to help you very much. I have never tried looking for or working with non PVA wood glues. I suspect that even with PVA glue, you would have a hard time getting boards glued edge to edge stay at all true, so keep in mind you are likely to end up with some warp and unevenness that may show up later…. Actually I just had an idea that I think would work well - get/borrow a pocket hole jig and use that to do your edge joinery. A pocket hole jig is really a great tool that is easy to use. Check this out. Kreg is just the most common brand of pocket hole jigs. There are cheaper ones out there, although I can’t speak to which other brands are good/bad.
It may help if you clarify what you consider natural and synthetic wood glues. Do you mean you want to be able to collect the ingredients in the woods for some reason? Is there a particular type of chemical or other component in wood glue you are trying to avoid?
Also, what are you glueing to what? Right now, I just know that you want a desktop and you don’t want to make legs. Does that mean you are setting this desktop on the frame from your old desk? Are you gluing boards together on edge? Are you don’t joinery? I’m pretty sure that the type of gluing is going to matter, especially if you’re trying to find a glue that has undergone minimal processing.
Let’s do a test… I’m starting this comment.Now I’m gonna go for a bit…
…Ok, a few minutes later and I’m back. I opened slay the spire and started a game, went to safari and opened a website, opened a music app and started playing music, and now am back here.
Even with all of that loading and usage of other apps, nothing unloaded from Voyager and my comment was still drafting. It seems to me that some other gremlin is causing this than normal unloading inactive apps from memory.
I don’t think it’s just memory management at play. I’m having the same issue on iOS on an iPhone 11 Pro. Yesterday I was writing a comment, swapped to my browser, did a quick search, and came back within 30 seconds… and found myself staring at my home feed instead of the comment I was drafting.
Of course, it could still be memory management related, but I don’t tend to find other apps getting reloaded even after much more time away and switching between more than one other app.
Additionally, shouldn’t the app remember your position regardless? It’s annoying to lose my place in the feed and find myself transported to the top of the Home feed. Maybe not and that behavior all falls under memory management… I’m not a programmer.
I’ve been experiencing it too (iOS 1.9.2 TestFlight app). I feel like I didn’t have this happening for a while and I wonder if something happened in 1.9.1 or 1.9.2.
Have you found a way to make this occur reliably? If I could do that, I’d roll back to 1.9.1 and do some testing to see if the issue is happening there as well.
Thanks!
If you try another type, try rolled oats first, not steel cut. Then if that works well you could think about trying steel cut. Your standard Quaker Oats are rolled oats (Quaker also sells quick oats).
Steel cut oats are the least processed, are chunkier, and require the most cooking. Rolled oats are flattened and steamed, so require less cooking than steel cut. Quick oats are processed even more and require the least cooking. So if you try rolled, you will probably get a little bit heartier/crunchier of a topping. Steel cut might end up being just straight hard or overly chewy.
OP, are you using rolled oats or another type? Rolled oats (vs steel cut oats or quick oats) sounds like the right type, but I thought I should ask.
I haven’t used other handhelds, but what you say is what I’ve seen from other discussions and reviews. Yes, there are more powerful systems with better screens, but the SD’s OS is miles ahead (but not without a lot of quirks as well). The touchpads are incredible - I couldn’t imagine trying to use a handheld PC without those touchpads. Also, the custom control configuration abilities built in to steam OS are incredibly versatile and detailed.
Your post inspired me to try to fix my silcocks because I too hate that whine.
I looked at the reviews for the vacuum breakers available at Home Depot and, interestingly, I’m not seeing any of the reviews mentioning whine/hum/noise. This leads me to assume that a new vacuum breaker will work fine and that the whine ends up happening when the VB ages (or if you get a defective unit).
, removed the old one using slip joint pliers, cleaned the threads, applied liquid pipe thread sealant, and screwed on the new one.So far, no noise. Time will tell whether this is a short term solution or if it’ll last a reasonable number of years.
Note that some silcocks will have fine threads for a VB, some not. Make sure you get the right threading for your application.
If your dad already removed the VB then you don’t have this issue, but for others that might stumble on this conversation: Many VBs have a set screw in the side, which is screwed in and then broken off to prevent removal. Code often requires this. If yours is like that, you’ll need to drill out the set screw before you can take off the old one.
I just put up an awning over our back deck. Now it’s time for modifications. I’m going to adjust how the straps connect for the fabric so it’s tighter and water runs off better. then I’m going to seam seal and put on some waterproofing spray.
After that, my daughter and I are building a padded bench for a window nook in her room. The design and measurements are done. Fabric and foam have been purchased. Actual work completed: zero.
I hate that hum too. I don’t suppose you found any solution?
Cool, thanks!
I just tested it on NYT and it is disabled for that site :(. But I’ll bet it’ll come in handy elsewhere.
I’ve been on an 80s and early 90s kick lately, revisiting music from my childhood. I’ll add that to my list. Thanks!
