  • For anyone not clicking the link, but wondering what this reply means... it's a link to the user's comment (right below, within this comment chain) about a lemmy update

    I was confused for a sec and probably would've skipped over all of the context because I didn't continue reading first (and I hesitate to click links randomly), so maybe someone else with no attention span will benefit as well

    "Lemmy update v0.19.11 provides 'Dont render images in private message'

    Not every instance is updated to this version, but it should stop the current method of spam (if updated). I'm wordy, I know; but maybe it'll help someone

  • I'm not the savviest, but I think it's kinda like turning a description into a url ---> [description into a url](https://example.com/)

    I think you just need an exclamation(!) in front of the brackets[] and no description needed between brackets

    ![](https://gif.something/)

    Now if someone could explain to me what the exclamation(!) does, or why it's needed, I would appreciate it

  • $116 of groceries that you can carry up the stairs‽ So like, a few bananas, an avocado, and some stale bread (no toasting required)? Quit bitching, you're spending wayyy over your means, obviously! Lemme guess, you occasionally enjoy cheese as well. Have you tried $116 worth of beans instead?... I bet not, you bougie peasant

  • Not a failed assassination, but a warning maybe? His health issues have been in the news lately, his "special operation" is wayyyy over-budget... someone's making him look more vulnerable. Who though??? That's my dumb conspiracy; he's losing power and someone's been waiting to fill that vacuum. Corporate-takeover style? Idk, I'm just riffing

  • I wish someone would type that out into the comments, so I could click the dead link and feel a small sense of satisfaction; simply by knowing it was dead before I even clicked it, confirming my suspicion

    But it's the internet... so 50/50 whether some hero does it for no reason, or someone throws some kinda rick-roll response. Either way, I ain't typing it out and I can live with the disappointment... sorry y'all, I'll try and be better next time
