  • My expectations? I guess I expected I could have at least half of what my parents had. Which I almost can. They afforded the house on one salary and my mom stayed at home. Me and my gf both have to have full time jobs. But, we can only pay a smaller house.

My parents had five kids and sometimes struggled with money. We have one kid, two salaries and still struggle with money. For basic stuff. Just food and drinks and stuff you need. And the occasional bottle of wine or whisky.

So I guess I got around half of what my parents had. What I would have hoped for is that if two people work 40 hours a week and most of the time more, we would not have to struggle. I would have hoped we could save some money.

I would have hoped that I would not be waiting with service for my motorcycle until I have the money. Or be anxious about the yearly review of my car, because there could be high costs to get it approved another year.

I don't mind working, I don't mind working extra, I don't mind working hard. But right now it feels like I get nothing in return. It's just expected, and you get to survive. That's it. You want more? A little more space in your house, or a little bit more time for yourself? Can't be done. And that is frustrating.

Edit: seems people agree with me, thanks for the support.

  • It actually makes sense. I've seen big and small companies. Small companies are focused, flexible and people usually have a connection with the company.

At bigger companies, everything goes slow. And nobody gives a shot about anything. They do what they need to do in order to get paid, but not a step more. Everything is slow because at least 2 layers of management need to sign off on decisions.

  • Mine already reboots every night. It's a setting I can change on my OnePlus.

I enabled it long ago. A reboot will also kill anything that is running in your memory like a page mining crypto or a virus that has not yet gotten to your file system yet. Or at least I'd like to think so....

Anyways, the reboot also insured that if my phone is ever taken from me, after 24 hours max they will have to both enter my PIN and my phone security code. I wish them good luck. There's not much interesting stuff on my phone, but that does not mean I want everyone to have free access too it.

  • Oh no, they will not go until a proper base is built. You don't expect them to actually do any physical work now do you? First get the slaves in, built a nice cozy home for the rich, and then, when the world has all the comforts they need they will move over.

  • Just be glad they managed to fly around your ship and not through it. Navigating at those speeds is hard, matching speed with an older ship, connecting to it and transfering all the people over is probably also difficult.

Not to mention those in the older ship are probably brought into hypersleep in a different way then more modern ships, so they might not actually be equipped to handle the people from the older ship.

  • Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

The US have a shitstorm coming. That's what you get when you let a toddler play with the control knobs of the country.

Another very interesting point is how China made themselves so powerful. Anything with electronics needs some sort of resource from China. China is a very big and powerful player.

We should wonder if we want t be this dependant on one country for all our tech needs. I think the answer is no....

  • That one time I got an executable online that made girls strip on my desktop was great. Of course, the spyware and virus crap that was secretly behind it was not. I think that was the first time I did a full reinstall of Windows for the first time. Good times.

Burning CD's, ripping CD's with programs to remove the protection and save songs as MP3...

Anyone remembers cracks? You would replace a couple of files in the game folder and you could run a game without the CD, or a pirated version. These days with the online crap that is much more difficult. Or the serial number generators for some games or software because some genius found out how the software checked the number?

  • Darker colors make it more cozy. Light colors make it feel more like a hospital. Green, brown, sand colors, dark blue, dark grey maybe. Just slam something on the wall and check how it feels. You can always paint it again.

  • I'll be allright, it is just a small silly ring that I have to throw in a burning mountain. That is surrounded by orcs and other evil beings. While the ring is fighting against me and giving me supernatural powers.

Oh and no pressure, only the whole world will be destroyed and everything I know and love will be gone too.

Yea, Lord of the rings. I'm screwed...

  • I think there is a quote somewhere from someone that says people talk about people, smarter people talk about facts and even smarter people talk about ideas. I am probably murdering the quote, but it was something like that.

It makes sense though, talking about other people doesn't really provide much direction in life. Facts do provide more direction in life, but ideas really function as a pointer in a lot of situations when may not know what to do otherwise.

  • You're not an asshole. The way you treat a dog makes a huge difference. Unfortunately these two are treated like kids. One of the family members wanted to get a husky at first, at least we managed to steer them away from that.

So yes, they are also not good dog owners. But we also had labradors and they were treated the same but never were agressive. Never. Dumb? Absolutely. Happy goofballs? Absolutely. And a lot better as doodles.

Both of the doodles have issues with allergies and skin stuff. And food. They are very peculiar about the food. Allergic to half of it, and some of what they can handle they just don't eat because they don't like it.

Both family members have racked up considerable cost at the vet. The health issues are real. Especially when we did not have the different energies figured out.

And really, what kind of dog is allergic to fucking grass? Grass, of all things??

TLTR: don't get a doodle, get a real dog. And train it properly. Cheers.
