  • Your kitty is at least as smart as a human baby, they're scared of identical twins too.

They're WRONG, don't you see!? Don't you smell and hear the clues!? Am I the only one who's not fooled!?

We all have to override our fear of identical twins with logic, but there's a reason for the "evil twin" trope.

Edit: of course, you could be the evil one, but that's okay because every evil villain loves their cat.

  • Although they are independent-minded and capable of living alone, I firmly believe cats appreciate and reciprocate affection. Feral cats often live in groups, and even nurse each other's kittens. You're not just thumbs to your kitty, although I'm never sure which of us is the pet.

  • You can't teach a cat to stay off anything they want to be on, you can only train them to not do it when you're looking, and/or jump away when you catch them at it. Or you can change something about it to make them dislike it, because with cats it's always "what's in it for me?" I love cats, when they choose to be friends with you it's a real choice, not just a pack instinct.

  • Those of us who really do like you understand why you don't want to come now. Because even if you are visiting a blue state you still might encounter Trump's thugs at the border. Or ICE could get shooed away from a LAUSD elementary school and decide to randomly grab you off the street outside. You stay out and stay safe, spend your money locally.

  • Cookie demonstrates strabismus, misaligned eyes, specifically exotropia, pointing outward. While this can cause amblyopia or lazy eye, they're different things.

I have had a lazy eye (one that doesn't work well with my brain, so I have crap depth perception) as a child because it was much more nearsighted than the other, and now because of cataracts and floaters. But it aligns properly.

Cookie also has a more unique and adorable quality of "googly eyes," in that they can bounce around randomly before returning to their basic misaligned position.

I'm not sure it counts as ableist since "lazy" is at the eye not the person, and I found it a helpful description when I was a child. But using the medical term shows you're trying, and of course it's best to get the person's preference.

  • Agree about the name change. They get a monthly pittance from me, it's not changing although I do think I get good value from them since my alarm radio wakes me up with Morning Edition. But I might look into finding a station in an underserved community to give to.

  • Depending where you live, your local station may take a bigger hit percentagewise. Not mine, because both Pasadena and Santa Monica have lots of people who listen and can give. But it's the NPR stations in red states that may need most help and be an important source of sanity. If you give to your station, they can chip in their bit to NPR at large.

  • Cute joke, but more likely osteoporosis, preceded by childbearing. Pregnancy hormones make tendons in general soften/stretch, in order for the pelvis to let the head through. I had C-sections, but my feet spread out and apparently the rest of my bones sagged a bit too. And now I'm getting thinner vertebrae.
