  • This being the Glorious 25th of May, I give you Terry Pratchett's Box, which contains a furious Greebo the Cat. Death says CATS ARE NICE. But not Greebo, who's hungry enough to eat a vampire.

And his Gonne, which may or may not be safely stored at the Assassin's Guild.

And his razor wit, which always cuts straight to the Truth.

    🪻🗡️❤️🥚

  • I've never been wakened by a bear, but so many times by babies! Not lately, bc I'm old and they somehow survived to adulthood. But I'm glad my sleep deprivation was not compounded by blindness.

  • The headline fits the article but not the summary. Nine out of her ten children killed, her husband and the remaining child in hospital. Her husband is also a doctor but no mention of doctors killed.

    Just clarifying, not justifying.

  • Look for the caterpillars and cocoons. Those very hungry caterpillars are eating a lot of something, let's see....

"this caterpillar constantly munches on the leaves of walnut, hickory, sweetgum, and paper birch trees."

  • Levi Strauss and Jacob W. Davis started marketing their riveted jeans to Gold Rush miners in 1873, so.... And your t-shirt would pass as underwear, though you'd want to add a flannel work shirt or something for more decency. Add work boots and a wrench and you could probably get in anywhere, even a much more formal place than those clothes indicate, if you mutter something about the drains...

  • Because it's the number of "temperatures" (or rather the 1-degree increments between them) on the thermometer. Which you just counted by drawing an arrow to each one. It's the right answer to the question they didn't realize they were asking. 💯 A+

(I appreciate that the teacher wrote "?" thus giving the child an opportunity to explain their answer, and see if they could provide the conventional answer if given a better prompt!)
