  • Nah man, language is messy and people are lazy. Language is messy meaning people generally don't get so detail oriented and pedantic when someone says an absolute that clearly has some exceptions. People are lazy meaning most people aren't going to care to hash out the specifics of the edge cases that don't fit the generic statement.

Your test seems to be more about how pedantic everyone is, and god I hope Lemmy loses that to reddit...

  • It means they exist (see trans rights). Though yes, it doesn't really speak to what a society must accept as sexualized that something simply exists in counter to the norm.

To think such silly things is equivalent to religious people trying to protect their kids from "catching the gay" or becoming a lesbian simply because they met one. Just because it exists doesn't mean it has to become a norm for everyone, and just because it exists doesn't suddenly redefine the norm. Such braindead thoughts show up in far too many places. (like the previous comment)

  • I would phrase that near-last sentiment, "...in a sexy body." instead. No one should be oggled simply for being sexy, but if they are sexualizing themselves, (like dressing up for a night club) I'd argue that can indicate a desire to be oggled. They still should not be objectified, but when someone is trying to look sexy, I bet most people would be disappointed to get zero glances.

  • aww this looked so much funnier when I thought the flap over the face was a beak, the face was a malformed turkey wattle, and the ear a mostly lidded eye. Looks like such a derpy bird that way, but nooo it has to be a human face!

  • Get a cook top. Even nice ones are like 100 bucks. Even induction ones and compatible pans are cheap. Five or six fast food visits and you could've bought enough to cook a massive variety of cheap meals.

  • Nah. "Young people have never experienced what it's like to have privacy. To leave the house and be totally unreachable..."

That is explicitly what OP said. To be totally unreachable in the literal sense can easily be a source of anxiety on its own.

  • No, what I'm saying is you're being as foolish as tankies when you buy that BS. Any communist worth the time of day understands ANY authoritarian is a piece of trash worth discarding, not honoring and cracking down on their neighbors for...

By subscribing to the horseshoe theory, you are implying that communism/socialism literally ARE headed toward the same place as fascism, instead of having been merely userped by authoritarians and the powerful. That is completely ignorant to the very intent of those political ideologies...

  • I've done the same thing just being absent minded. Removing the nail is something that'd probably have happened either way after it's detached. It won't grow, a new one should start from under it, and the dead one will just be an annoying hard thing hanging on to what ever skin is left attached. If part of it is still somehow stuck to the bed, it's usually better to pull it out unless the majority is fine.

It took several months to grow a new big toe nail and it still feels funny (overly sensitive) to this day.

  • They conserve the status quo. They conserve the unjust power dynamics of the past. They conserve the positions of the rich and wealthy.

They conserve... It's just nothing most average joes should want to conserve...

  • Many, many conservatives voted for dump to punish immigrants. Many, many people voted to "own the libs", just like the person cited in this very post.

Please... point to the "empathy" in "owning the libs". They might have the tiniest drop of empathy for some, but the problem is they have a lot more HATE for people they don't even fucking know. That makes them terrible people no matter how much you say, "butbut they still have some empathy!".

Yea, the problem is they have more hate than empathy.
