  • It's okay, tbh I don't think you're missing out. My experience is that they're usually badly maintained if they're maintained at all (last time I looked at a hotel pool it was green and growing algae). The "swimmable" hotel pools are only found at really, really nice hotels.

Why do they even bother installing pools in hotels if they're not going to maintain them? What a waste of space.

  • I just hope the devs are more competent and don't [spoilers].

  • Maybe the most significant issue is that, for some reason, the Seekers of the Storm update has tied Risk of Rain 2's physics systems to its frame rate. When asked about it on Discord, Gearbox developer GBX-Preston said FPS-related issues, "and all the ramifications on balance/physics/attack speed/movement/etc. were not intentional. This is in our top handful of issues we're investigating." As a stopgap, he said players experiencing issues should lock the game at 60 fps.

Amazing. How the fuck did you do that?

  • A Dreamcast controller with a modern, moddable vmu system would be sick.

  • Quick, download it before Nintendo gets it.

  • Man, it has been fascinating and kinda horrifying to see what Twitter can get away with due to their size. Imagine if a major Lemmy instance was hosting arms deals.

  • A feline anthropologist, I see.

  • Ehhhh... Kinda. It's like asking if BitTorrent or Usenet is piracy. Technically crypto isn't a scam, but that's mainly what it gets used for.

  • Sometimes I wonder how much of our universe is sitting on the surface of a metaphorical lake; and the things we see are just the bits that poke up above the water. That there's an entirely separate world pressing up against ours, and normally they don't interact; except sometimes they do, leading to effects which (to my knowledge) seem to have no cause, such as dark matter, dark energy, quantum unpredictablility and so forth.

  • Jesus Christ what a wild story. Is it possible that Craven simply wanted to do good, but "as a white, abled man" wasn't opening doors so they felt they had to pretend to be someone else? From what it sounds like, a lot of what they and their """partners""" did was legitimately helpful. The thing that leaves me confused is that they probably could have fleeced people for significantly more money but didn't. They didn't have to put the amount of effort into it as they did. Is it possible they were trying to do the right thing but were going about it the wrong way?

  • Diamonds aren't even cool anymore. Laboratory gems, however, are fucking awesome.

  • You should take a look at game prices for anything older than PS2/GameCube (and even some games from that era are obscenely expensive). For a long time, LSD: Dream Emulator was one of the most expensive games you could get at around $200 for a pristine copy. Nowadays, there are a ton of games that are >$200 for a junk, beat-up copy. The price skyrocketed thanks to WATA/Heritage Auctions doing a lot of suspected pump and dumping that, as a couple examples, got an LoZ copy sold for nearly $900,000 and a copy of Super Mario Bros sold for nearly $700,000. Afaik the only known copy Chu-Teng didn't sell for that much, and that was considered to be lost media.

Even if all you want is to have a copy of Banjo-Kazooie then have fun forking over $20ish for a loose cartridge or >$100 if you want the box and manual. That's not how it used to be. Used to be that you could get a loose cartridge for like, $2 in a bundle of 10 of them.

    Fuck WATA.

Edit: this also applies to old computers. Remember when you could get a beige CRT by the side of the road for free? Have fun paying >$50 for a shitty CRT, >$200 for a decent one, and >$1000 for a good one. It's not just CRTs either; basically anything to do with old PCs is becoming obscenely expensive as well.

  • As someone is very much not cisgender, I look at it and go "Well, isn't every FTM going to pick Body Type A with male pronouns while MTFs like myself go with Body Type B with female pronouns? Who outside of a Far Right Troll trying and failing to be funny is gonna pick the buff bearded dude and select the she/her pronouns?"

Me! What do you have against bearded, manly ladies? They're awesome!

It is kinda lazy to have "full masculine" and "full feminine" as your only choices while pretending they aren't just "male" or "female", but at the same time, I think it's a step in the right direction. Today the options might be "not-man" and "not-woman", but the future might have "not-man", "not-woman", "man-woman" and "woman-man"!

  • Edit: I'm dumb and read the comment backwards lol

Yes, however it's hyper specialized and mainly used scientifically to observe furries in their natural habitat during one of their habitual gatherings. Furries often gather together at least once a year in a congregation usually referred to as a "convention". These conventions are science's primary source of knowledge about furries as they're rarely seen outside them. As such, there's a lot of demand for the ability to observe and interact with furries without spoiling the convention, which lead to the invention of the fursuit. It's very similar to a traditional ghillie suit, however they often include some form of active cooling as researchers are often unaccustomed to the suit's heat.

  • As a reminder, there is supposedly something like 3000 pairs of tactical cat ears in circulation in Ukraine.

  • Hehehe, I like them. I wonder if they "speak" upside down too. Remember, even manufacturing defects need love and to be treated with kindness and care.
