Ah yes, I think that was when a FOSS maintainer had to step down and handed it off to someone else if I remember right? See this XKCD for relevance. It's pretty ridiculous how much we (and companies with billion dollar revenues) rely on the free work of others for such important systems. But yes, an important distinction to make is that certain Linux distributions may use code by others that is not open source and malicious without them realizing.
I mean, but we pretty much do know? The difference between Linux and Windows / MacOS is Linux is open source and can be checked and audited by anyone. If an exploit exists, it will be visible publicly and just needs to be spotted by those knowledgeable enough. Windows and MacOS are more than likely audited too but by private companies under NDA, so then it's left up to Microsoft or Apple to decide what exploits are fixed.
Super pissed off FPTP is still a thing. My riding was quite interesting this year. Polls showed a safe conservative win with NDP slightly behind and liberals at barely anything. What actually happened was a huge number of liberal votes compared to what was expected and less conservative and NDP votes as a result. The conservatives won with only ~38% of the vote vs the over 50% they were showing in the polls. I can almost garuntee that if we had ranked choice, either NDP or liberals would have won. It's very frustrating as I'm certain a lot of the left leaning voters were focusing on a national level and not a local one.
I know it's not the takeaway from your post, but if you're actually getting one please test the litter robot throughly before allowing your cat to use it unsupervised. I've seen videos of horrible designs that have killed pets before and when word gets out, they just re-brand them.
Not the original commentor, but the people I've discussed this with usually say one of 4 things. These aren't necessarily my views, just what I've heard from others:
The government is too easy on crime and we grant people bail who are dangerous to release.
Gun control is a waste of time and money and isn't tackling the real issue as nearly all gun crime isn't committed by legal gun owners.
More housing needs to be made (note that both major parties seem to agree on this).
More infrastructure needs to be built to capitalize on our oil and natural resources exports.
As far as being a criminal in El Salvador, it's alleged, not proven...
So was he a criminal or not in El Salvador? Because to me it sounds like you just lied and are now trying to move the goalposts. Due process is the issue here, if you can't understand that then don't be surprised when people you know are wisked away to a prision in a foreign country.
My internal clock is similarly good, but more of an asshole. If I fall back asleep after an alarm accidentally and have somewhere I need to be, my body will wake me up with the absolute bare minimum amount of time I need to get ready if I rush like an absolute mad man.
Mark my words, this will have consequences, and some people may ask in a couple of years how is it that no one came for help when they need it. And they shall remember that the blatantly insulted those they will be asking for help and that people just got sick of them.
These comments just make me sad, because I have a feeling you are not talking specifically about artists mad at AI art when you say 'some people'. You are letting the voices of a few people convince you to abadon the silence of a majority. And in this current political world, that could result in a lot of people who see eye to eye with you being punished.
Calculators don't need heaps of power to run. Calculators are not trained on the copyrighted works of artists. And that's only the start of the issues with your argument.
Someone else mentioned Habitica already, there are a few out there. I think they usually call it gamification. The only one I tried and was able to commit to was Walkscape (specifically gamifying getting out), although I've been slacking due to nasty winter weather.
