Immigrants with no criminal convictions represent sharpest growth in ICE detention population

I know lately it's just a constant stream of man-made horrors overwhelming our comprehension, but holy crap this is...beyond disgusting.
I don't even know what words to use because these monsters keep pushing their ever more extreme depravity on the world.
Thanks for raising the alarm on this particular point.
and actually do something,
I think the big problem here is how stupidly huge and deeply rooted into everyday long-term-life the problem is, and brittle, tenuous social ties (lonliness epidemic still a thing!) means wrangling together enough people to agree on what can be done about it becomes a herculean task.
Neighborhood tree on fire? Do something! Cool, we bring water and extinguishers and call the FD, whatever. There's generally an idea of what needs to be done.
There's also been no massive campaigns pushing to ban non-firefighter use of fire extinguishers and make people afraid of them, so chances are you and your neighbors might have the tools at hand to deal with the problem.
If you run out to put out a fire by yourself, you're hoping to be joined by others, and if you don't have an army of committed hardcore anti-fire people behind you, you're not gonna get singled out, dragged away, and shipped to a death camp for trying to solve a fire.
It's a problem that doesn't require the same kind of strategy. There's procedures in place. Putting out a fire also doesn't carry the fear that your anti-fire activities will get you noticed, ratted out, and abused when you discover your neighborhood actually consists of more fire-worshiping pyromaniacs than you thought.
It's so easy for oustiders to imagine us rootin' tootin' 'Muricans just grabbin' our Winchester repeatin' rifles an' M1 Garands an' stormin' the obvious fascist regime that marches the streets in their snappy black leather uniforms, but this is another thing entirely.
This is a systemic infection of hearts and minds. We're already struggling to make a living so our basics are covered, to know who and where our allies are, and to trust they aren't just keyboard warriors and will actually have our backs so we don't just throw our lives away in some random isolated act of virtue signaling.
At the end of the day, we have to live here. And we're up against people who make it their specialty career to surveil, intimidate, coerce, arrest, subdue, manipulate, and kill. You wanna make the first move?
People are doing a lot, and we always need more! The cards are VERY stacked against us, so it doesn't look like much is happening. It's a massive disaster and it's hard to identify the helpers right now. But we're not just sleeping on it.
At Albuquerque or the political alignment compass?
I would hope, but on the whole you'd almost think they deliberately purged home computing from the mainstream consciousness, with how tragically ignorant the average person is about anything that isn't a little poke-driven rectangle that screams at you all day.
anime without dimming
So that's the secret! When I first noticed this happening I thought I was a little bit crazy lol.
I hope the victims of ICE start to sue for defamation as well - drain the new bill's obscene funding with a wave of court-ordered compensation to ICE's victims.
Oh man, seeing how all of this bill is basically "trickling up" wealth again , it'd be kinda hilarious to use strategic ICE suing to drain it back down to the people again.
Lawyers would see it as blood in the water after one or two successful cases, especially after that huge budget increase. Gold rush on ICE lol!
I appreciate a lot of the harassment campaigns around tracking and interfering with ICE. These should continue and escalate.
This extrajudicial black-bag unmarked-personnel van-kidnapping bullshit should carry unacceptable risk and highly visible negative public optics for those who keep attempting it.
Actually really curious as to the exact wording of this.
Because I wonder if this one in particular were better publicized, if it would turn some percentage of hardcore single-issue 2A types against the regime, if they put their money where their (very loud) mouths are.
It seems like it wouldn't work, but I imagine if we can broadcast a lot of "Are you STILL so sure they're not the bad guys?!" messages with receipts, it could eventually change some minds.
Even if they want to get back to arguing with us over the dinner table when the dust settles, we need everyone we can get.
Sorry, maybe I didn't articulate that very well. Thanks for pointing that out. (Sites like this tend to favor short punchy responses lol)
I didn't mean like "haha lol rofl lulz" funny, but I appreciated how succinctly they pointed out the logical ridiculousness, the sheer morbid absurdity, of such a forum existing in the first place, and asked the question: "Well if what they're encouraging is so great, why haven't they done it themselves?" Which, logically, would likely end the forum itself.
It's like a self-defeating concept. It shouldn't be able to exist by its own definition.
Laying that out got a guilty chuckle out of me because it's such a bizarrely awful thing to exist and it was so simple a thought process to show how little sense it makes.
I only wish it was so obviously absurd to anybody who would dare to seek "community" there, but when people are beat down that much, it must be easy to miss the signs.
So absolutely, this is serious business and it really begs the question as to the motives of the people running it. Doubtful they're benevolent in the slightest. "Three tiny serial killers in a trenchcoat" feels pretty likely.
It's darkness through and through, and should be handled with utmost care and tact. I highly doubt anybody receives any actual "care" from this community, and would imagine its legacy is massive irreparable harm.
At worst, it's crowdsourced murder via psychology without any accountability on behalf of the perpetrators, when the victims could have possibly been led to better lives with the right intervention.
That's a terrifying thought.
But yeah, I didn't mean to make light of anything. I only saw humor as a useful tool in cutting through the lies of the concept.
That's how it was supposed to be, until the Right co-opted firearms as an entire personality, and the liberal response was to spread ignorance, miseducation, and fear about them so that their party branding looked different enough.
So now all the insecure, hateful, scared-of-everybody violence-fantasists are armed, knowledgeable, and stocked.
And those that would oppose authoritarianism en masse were force-fed "Only cops and the military should be armed and the rest of us should just wish they didn't exist".
So they're now largely rendered toothless and clawless normies who think flash hiders, rail grips, and black paint make a weapon "more lethal." And don't know what to do with themselves if pickets and law systems don't have an effect.
Meanwhile the "patriotic" bullies ramble about "freedom" and "small government" whilst simping for their fascist overlords unopposed by any actual threat.
Like most loud bullies, most are the types that would likely break if met with any actual opposition that could do them harm.
I don't want to see it come to this, but we need to educate and train ourselves before it's too late. The threat alone might be enough to put them in their place.
It's very clear nobody is coming to save us from this worsening state of affairs.
"I'd buy subscribe to THAT for a DOLLAR!"
This is the kind of darkly humorous deep-thought that keeps me coming back to the Internet.
EDIT: Sorry, no, I don't find this funny in itself, I meant I found it "funny" how the commenter above so simply and concisely destroyed the concept of such an awful thing, by pointing out the sheer absurdity of its logical conclusion. Proving it shouldn't exist by its own definition. Longer explanation below if it helps.
But in short, I hope nobody is visiting this "community", when they could / should be receiving compassionate professional care and support in this world that's already got enough darkness without them leaving it before their time. :(
I used to love those Kairosoft simulator games. They get a little samey after a while but you get the whole game which is cool
Remember PDAs? The only games that things had were mineswipper, solitaire, chess, sudoku among others.
Space Trader and Dope Wars, all the way. Still worth playing today! You can emulate it on Archive.org or there's Android ports for Space Trader. Still a fun game. :D
Unfortunately same with Bill Nye. He seemed so pissed at getting recognized by people at a symposium.
Like geeze dude sorry you inspired people as kids and encouraged them to pursue science and they're excited to meet you.
Maybe it's inserted into media on purpose, training us like a subtle shock collar to hesitate if somehow, one of the commoners manages to get within range of an authoritarian boss-man.
/Crazy conspiracy lol
This looks like an episode where Big Bird realizes all the really neat grown-up jobs he was telling the kids about this whole time don't really exist, and he just realized the sheer soul-crushing disappointment of the corporate workplace. :( lol
That's a pretty good point, and I agree. It was "This is a weird and sinister mystery!" and that's pretty much it.
I hope it at least builds some attention momentum for others with maybe more assets or connections at their disposal to hone in on what's really going on here and bring it to light.
It probably sounds a little weird, but while I was sitting at the safety of my "occupy a desk until someone asks questions" job that sapped my soul, I often would research places I really, really wouldn't want to be.
In a weird way I find this "Dark tourism behind a screen" to be a bit fascinating in a "safe danger " kind of way.
Reading the state department's notices on some countries really puts in perspective. They're like "Don't go here without an armored vehicle, armed security detail, and most preferably a good friggin reason. Even still, have a next of kin lined up and ransom plans."
Edit: also "Oh yeah, if everything goes bad off embassy grounds (if there even is one) our ability to intervene is limited. Don't expect direct support to come save you."
Like. Damn.
