  • Funny the service in the worst state yet and they start serving ads. Even on their newest hardware this service is horrible. It takes ages to switch to UHD. There is a bug where a show will stop buffering and then the show will jump a few minutes forward. Crashing lagging, not being able to select always play in og language and set a subtitles to one language…

  • Ray tracing would be a weird choice since the game uses baked lighting almost perfectly. You wouldn‘t even see much of a positive difference.

I guess the tech updates will be rather minor and only really noticeable if you play it side by side. The original still looks good the new version will look a bit better…

They want their 60$ again. 🤣

  • How to end the pain?

  • Call the number for suicide watch in your region. Get stationary treatment and take a breather for a few days. There you are away from family and your toxic relationship and hopefully the people there can really help you.

  • Unclear at the moment, there are so many requirements it is hard to keep track especially with the legal situation in the UK.

They basically demolished some mandatory EU laws like equal pay. But then again there is no protection in the UK system and you can just change every single law with a simple majority vote.

Some of the new trade deals could hinder them, since you can not bring all goods into the single market.

The member vote is the real roadblock for the UK, the basic requirements shouldn‘t be a problem with the current legal system of the UK.

  • The both work by clogging the glands in your armpits. That does not mean the cooling function of your body is hindered, you simply sweat more everywhere else. For most people there is a noticeable increase of sweat on you back. Years of heavy use can shift sweating away from your armpits even if you are not using something currently.

  • There are a number of reasons but the biggest is, they simply can‘t.

There is no rejoining, you would have to apply for membership again. That process takes years even if every member is friendly towards you, which in case of the UK is not the case.

A rejoining is also currently not beneficial for the EU. So they have little incentive to allow it. The drain of firms towards the mainland is just starting and the EU needs that process completed and some time extra to flourish before they can think about talks about rejoining.

Another problem is the UK itself. While heavily divided, an absolute minority of voters are politically in line with where the EU is currently and where the EU is heading. So rejoining would be a hard sell in the UK.

  • Well that is the problem for Apple, the app is not used as iMessage but it is used as the SMS app and therefore it has by the definition of the law a huge userbase. Also business still use SMS at a reasonable rate so monthly active users as a KPI is also high.

    Welcome onboard mate. 📱

  • How would that be a feasible solution?

If they stay true to their word, they will force them to implement interoperability and not just force them to give some sort of API access.

So if you install WhatsApp their plan is that Meta must provide a seamless experience in talking to every other person even if that person is using e.g. iMessage

A new protocol for the given reason is faster implemented, more secure and better scalable then just trying to do something with existing solutions that were never designed with something like this in mind.

  • That is not clear yet, since the law does not specify the protocol needed to make that happen. The law forces them to make the messenger interoperable while keeping features like E2E encryption. Basically like ActivitPub with more security / privacy features.

  • No they do believe that, because in Europe that is kinda true. You might find someone who uses iMessage if you go to the UK, but in mainland Europe iMessage is the same as GoogleMessages it is „the SMS app“. In modern days it is receiving messages only for most people.

FaceTime is another app that is hugely popular in the US but has almost no users in Europe.

But in the end it is installed on all iPhones so they will fall under the rule, which is not a bad thing.

  • The launcher forces the at a glance widget on the homescreen first 2 rows. That wouldn‘t be a problem in itself, but this version of at a glance is super broken and only works 3/10 times as intended. You can the put the original widget underneath it and test it and the original version will work 10/10 Times.

Not working means weather or events are not shown and there is no shortcut to them if you click there if if they are shown you alway go to your calendar. Also the days are written in short in that version so Thu. instead of Thursday in the original widget.

  • Recently got a 7a for work. Personally using iOS.

    • The phone has some rly nice features like transcribing recorder.
    • Some other nice features are hidden in the system settings as widgets for some bizarre reason.
    • The camera is quite good even in zoom
    • The camera does not take color accurate pictures at all they are heavily modified to look very vivid
    • Face unlock works surprisingly good in good light for android phones but only if you don‘t care about security
    • the fingerprint sensor is the biggest fail and makes using this phone a chore. That thing is so unreliable, I don‘t know if I ever had an Android phone with a worse fingerprint sensor. 5 / 10 recognitions is a good day. The phone seems to have a „warm up“ phase where if the phone was used it works better but if you haven’t Used it and use fingerprint for something … that is going to be a problem.
    • setting up the phone takes forever. The onboarding process is like one of these video games where the tutorial takes forever because they tell you cool things like jumping is a on Button A in a western controller layout. The same as it has been for the past 20 years…
