  • I find it useful for the times when I need to suspend my computer for a long time. For example, on my laptop, sleep still drains the battery (5-10% a day), so in those cases I like to use hibernate.

Hybrid-sleep also takes advantage of the swap partition and does both hibernate and suspend at the same time, making your computer resilient to power outages during sleep.

  • It's so annoying how they're dragging their feet on this. What is the point of having such limited inventory slots when TP's are free? It only serves to waste people's time, forcing them to go back to town multiple times mid-dungeon. Just give us more stash tabs and inventory slots already and let us loot in peace.

  • Yeah. It's by far the best way to play Sorc right now. Are you using the Fireball enchantment along with it? I usually Teleport in (I have the unique chest armor that makes it vacuum and stun), Frost Nova, dodge out, Ice Shard (with +4 pierce) and enemies pretty much just melt. Only thing that's still an issue is that my mana regen still needs work. I haven't gotten to the point yet where I have infinite mana and I am not sure how to get there.

  • I agree. Full GPU doesn't seem likely. It'd be great if AMD and Valve could work together to make a decent desktop APU without the usual compromises, maybe one with M2 like performance. Even better if they could later repurpose a variation of that design to make consumer chips that fit into the AM5 socket.

Maybe Valve can also look into shared memory designs where its one unified pool for both CPU and GPU. Pretty sure Linux has support for that.

  • I wouldn't have minded the origins of Aliens if they did a better job of telling that story, but having a human android with an out-of-the-blue existential crisis be the true origin of this terrifying creature is just...meh. And then having that same Android decimate the Engineer's home planet without rhyme or reason just shot the whole direction of the franchise right out of the sky. While Prometheus had a ton of faults, I was at least excited to see what the Engineers were like, but now that's sorta gone, unless they do a retcon of what happened in Covenant.

  • Hey, it's a great username XD. Yeah, I think oftentimes passionate people will see a fight where there isn't one, but sometimes we all gotta chill out and remember that there's a human on the other end.

Anyways, welcome to the Fediverse! Cheers 🍺

  • Oh not at all! I totally took this comment thread as just a legit discussion, not an argument, so you're good. I hope I didn't sound like I was making a rebuttal. I was just trying to give more info and context, that's all!

Lol, tone over text is just hard to convey properly isn't it? Probably doesn't help that Internet culture is neck deep in trolling and stirring up unnecessary controversy and drama.

  • It's only been a few weeks since the redditpocalypse and the devs are busy fixing scaling bugs to handle the crazy influx of new users. Most of the deletion issues are simply due to bugs in the code creating more load than there should be, which in turn breaks or delays federation. I think getting the scaling issues out of the way first will provide a solid foundation to fix these other bugs, and given how well lemmy.world is performing with the recent 0.18.1 update, progress is definitely moving at a fast pace!

  • I am sure these things will get hammered out in time by the devs and the open source community in the main Lemmy source code or as a separate project. Contrary to what OP thinks, people ARE talking about it and the people building the Fediverse are aware.
