  • I am not exactly sure what's in this for Suse tbh. Now they're gonna maintain two different distros? I mean...good luck I guess? I just don't see this as being viable long term and this feels more like an empty PR move than anything.

  • They really need to start shipping Flatpaks or something so that they aren't always just targeting RHEL and CentOS. Luckily for me, someone's done the hard work of repackaging it into the AUR, but it really is kind of a crap experience on other distros.

  • I think its because just specifying libnividia-compute-470 indicates the 64 bit version, but the package that's installed is the 32-bit version. That's why specifying the full package name with the architecture suffix works.

  • they’ve been pretty good stewards of the Java open source project

    I am pretty sure Google (the company itself) would say otherwise.

    They've also been pretty horrible stewards of VirtualBox.

    Oracle is not friends with open source. To be honest, I trust RedHat over Oracle and that's saying something.
