I agree people should be aware of hazards in their lives, but endless warning signs just become a blur and are not even seen.

The only qualification Trump wanted of Hegseth for the job was a willingness to use the American military against American citizens on American soil. Hegseth wrote a book advocating for this.

You can make a little sign with whatever super important issue on it that you like. People did that. People understood that “No Kings” includes all the issues that come with being a king -or dictator.

But the most important thing people did was show the fuck up.

Just like with voting, a protest doesn’t do anything unless people show the fuck up.

And just like with voting, there are loud, persistent voices online that bemoan doing anything at all because it just isn’t perfect enough for them.

True hardcore Christians really have a problem with woo woo spiritual nonsense like some aspects of the wellness movement. They are looking the other way about this concerning the new surgeon general nominee because everything Trump is good to them. But some of you reading this might have relatives that, with gentle prodding, will become uncomfortable with “MAHA”, given the faux spiritual leanings. This can be your “in” to get them questioning the whole Trump thing.

I think it’s low level mental illness or some yet to be diagnosed mental condition. I don’t think it manifests itself strictly in Sov Cit folks. Think of those people who go full Don Quixote over some perceived wrong wrought onto them. They dig themselves in to fight something ridiculous and impossible to win -for they have no case- and spend their lives dedicated to it, never giving up or letting it go. The Sov Cit dudes at least have each other to commiserate.

In looking up a link, I see they indeed were drawing from Old Testament scripture to build their end times claims. I was told all this by a childhood friend whose church was teaching it. He was not shy about what happens to the Jews the minute Christ returns (they die first). Israel being established is part of the claims, but the next step is rebuilding the Temple. The Temple site is located on the spot where The Dome of the Rock sits. So it’ll be a problem to rebuild…

Evangelicals (who are massive Trumpers) are pro-Israel because a Jewish state is part of their end times beliefs (not to be confused with anything found in the Bible). They hate Jews otherwise.

I had heard the 1918 outbreak affected 20/30-somethings more than other age groups.

My healthcare provider had me tested for Measles antibodies because apparently that shit can wear off after 50 years in some people. I was still good with Mumps and Rubella, but was wide open to Measles. So I got an MMR vaccine (available at Walgreens, CVS, etc) and I’m good to go. So if you’re over 50, you might want to get tested or simply just ask your your doctor for their opinion about getting another shot.
