  • Well, I have tried multiple sets of reading glasses at different magnification. They all work fine. So I don't think it needs to be that exact to match the person. And I would think some sort of calibration, either by manual means or plugging them into a smartphone and using an app should cover that. I doubt it corrects for things like astigmatism that are more complex.

  • And prescriptions for glasses in general bug me. The only argument for requiring them and having them expire I have heard is that the wrong perscription could be dangerous while driving and such. But heck, we don't make you retake the drivers test every 2 years, and people's driving skills certainly decrease with age. So why prescriptions? Seems like another one of those good for business and not for people laws.

  • They've been taught from a young age that any they kill isn't murder, but self defense. I am not saying any of this is right. Just that I can understand how they may feel. Just as I can understand how the other side feels and why they chuck bombs over the fence. In my mind, every death of a civilian to these kinds of activities is a failure of the leaderships involved.

  • Yes and no. I don't really feel a lot of empathy. I have just come to realize intellectually that a whole lot of people are manipulated by a very small subset that only cares about itself. It's a numbers game. Given enough people, thier manipulations will end up producing a few like the people in question. And those people's only real crime is being easily manipulated. Which probably isn't thier fault. Telling an easily manipulated person to just not be is like telling a 5' tall person to be 6'. I chose to focus the majority of my ire on the manipulators.

  • I agree, but I will add that they are also indoctrinated from a young age to hate or fear the Palestinians. I don't really think the long history means as much other than an excuse to continue the indoctrination.

I mean if I grew up being told the neighbor was a dangeous crazy heathen that is hell bent on killing me. And that neighbor occasionally threw explosives over the fence. I would want them gone no matter if they had a good reason or what not.

Article is walled, so I couldn't read it. But I bet the questions were setup to differentiate expelling them from killing them. So I can understand a lot of people wanting the Palestinians gone. That doesn't mean the same number agree with what is being done to make it happen.

  • Sadly, I can understand that too. My understanding is that most suicide bombers are people with little to no future prospects who are either doing it because thier family will be rewarded in this life, or are convinced by others tgat they will be rewarded in the next life. They also tend to be gullible. Often they are as much a victim as those they kill. The ones we convinced them to do it, and gave them the bomb or what not. Those are the truely evil ones.

  • "Officers wearing the uniforms of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, Minneapolis Police Department, Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, the FBI, and the criminal investigation arm of the IRS surrounded Las Cuatro Milpas on East Lake Street."

Wanna talk about government waste... 6 agencies? It was a restaurant, not a fort. You have one agency secure the place. That way they follow the same procedures and don't hurt each other. Then if needed a specialist like the IRS guy goes in. You might have 1 ICE officer there to determine if anyone should be detained or something. But you don't need fully armed ICE shock troops at all.

  • At the same time, one can say that all the hate is a sign of how bad things are for so many people (mentally in this case). They are so desperate for someone to pay for crimes committed upon them and others, they will hate a rando because the news called him a businessman.

  • It would make it even harder for people to understand when it was in a different timezone. Right now I know that 11pm is late for anyone on thier own timezone. But with no timezone, I would say, the meeting is at 23:00. Thats mid morning for me, what is that for you... the answer is way less exact, and harder to covert.
So you day is my day minus half a morning?

  • Some women are strongly attracted to confidence. Some to famous people and/or money. Not the majority. But it would only take 1% to easily explain his success. He has the oportunity to meet a lot more women than most of us. And I doubt he let's too many opportunities pass him by.

  • Wow, that sounds like announcing a really juicy target for certain people. But if those vehicles were to sustain damage, that might mean an insurance payout. So really, there is an insurance company or two out there that we should be short selling and that should be providing security on that lot.
