  • I have a buddy that puts hundreds of dollars into the fanciest coffee machines he can buy. He buys bags of beans from all over the world.

I have a $20 grinder, a $11 coffee pot from Kroger purchased in 2013, and while I do buy nice bags of coffee several times a a year, my typical bag is store brand who bean for $7 and I'll splurge on a nice $15 bag from time to time.

I can't tell the difference in taste when I am at his place. However, instant coffee is disgusting and I cannot sip it without a shit load of creamer to dilute the awfulness.

  • Sony ultimately sets the price. They were $60 at launch but most video game accessories and even games now have increased from the standard $60 people got used to to now $65 and $70. I don't have a link but I recall reading that inflation adjusted, gaming has held up very well as there were games back in the N64 era and maybe before that sold for $60-70+.

Only other thought is Sony has moved on to PS5 and they make less of the controllers which in turn makes them more expensive to produce and thus increase in cost to the end consumer. I know Xbox has done a good job making controllers from the Xbox One generation to the current gen all work very easily together. I don't think Sony has done the same thing.

  • Same! I find the alerts come at times when there are no holidays or events. Like on a random Tuesday afternoon in the middle of June I get an alert that a game or movie is $20 when it's been $40-60 the last 6 months. Prime Day comes around and it's "on sale" for $55.

  • Phones charging use such little power I'd really be surprised if anyone cared. It really depends on the place. A library I would have no issue plugging in anything without asking. I can't say I've ever been at the doctors and considered charging my phone though I may ask out of courtesy if I did simply because I like my doctor. Overall I'd say it wouldn't be a big deal either way.

  • I am going to use this test post to say that of the 3 Lemmy apps I've tried; Liftoff, Jerboa, and Connect that Liftoff is by far my favorite so far. Thank you devs!
