As someone who doesn't have too much time any more because of family it is the total opposite for me. If I would play and die I would just stop. Back in the days I always played hardcore but now I don't see the point in seeing your time spent just evaporate into northing but memories. I do usually try to get as far as possible without dying so I play as if I would play hardcore but without the deletion stuff if I would die.
With that said I know that it is much more interesting to play hardcore for some people and they can't see the fun in playing without the extra challenge of never dying.
You can enjoy it 100% solo. The only place you see others that you never have to interact with is the hub. There is nothing in the game that force you to do anything with others or even suggest that it is multiplayer except some skills that mention allies (but works on yourself too). If that is too much I don't think the game is for you anyway.
If you want a larger game like Across the Obelisk but less meta progress and more RPG themed I would vouch for Gordian Quest.
Haven't played it too much myself but it is pretty neat. Played more Across the Obelisk because of multiplayer and my friends are into it.
This.
I expected that walls were breakable and more interesting gear/level system in a world full of life. I had fun with the game since I did a lot of the hacking stuff which is a bit different from anything I have played.
I will revisit the game with the new patch since I have got a new graphics card since then and not tried a single raytracing game since then. Also looking forward to the updated skilltrees. % stuff is really boring and lazy design.
I just stopped buying main stream games for the most part. Indie games is where it is at. Often better gameplay loop and comes at a better price and I would rather see my money going to creative people instead of some greedy CEO.
I played all current dlcs and the base game on separate occasions alone and with my friends and the game never really clicks for me. I don't know what it is but it never got as fun as many other arpgs for me.
Doubt that I will look at this new expansion as it feels I could have more fun spending my time with another game instead. Kind of weird as I have over a hundred hours and like the game genre but... Yeah.
This. Haven't got around to play the other games in the series yet even though I loved the first one.
