If the Marvel films aren't going to reference the TV shows (much) then Mephisto and magic can be our TV villain, our TV BBEG.
Also I'm so glad The Hood (or I guess just Parker) gets to stick around. I'm always bummed when a villain is one and done. I get it practically speaking, but a few should survive and I think he'll be a fun choice.
The first 15 minutes out this episode where everyone is trying to kill Riri felt like it was supposed to be a whole episode. The Ezekiel turn just feels way out of place and unearned.
However the rest of the episode, where it's clear someone made a decision "it we only get six episodes, we're keeping Riri rebuilding and The Hood losing everything (else)." was a great choice.
I'm makes it more clear that Ezekiel just made a deal to get out of prison. The rest of the gang turns on The Hood. He then uses his admin powers to control Ezekiel. It works much better by the end.
Also siphoning power from Dormammu/The Dark Dimension is such a terrible idea, I'm a huge fan. Also the cost, I didn't see that coming. I hope the AI stays "dead" but now that character can be used to tempt Riri.
The Hook/Parker backstory tease! I really thought we'd get more than a minute, I hope we get more in each of the two episodes, although I expect the biggest reveal will be saved for the finale, whatever it is.
Inexperienced witch is my new favorite character. Strange & Wong are experts and even while training Stranger was too good. Agatha All Along gave us some witch/magic learning but even they were were pretty good at it. But this new girl? Just trying magic out and seeing what works. Messy is much more fun.
Also Ezekiel should probably password protect his... science body? Whatever is being uploaded to him or something.
But here’s a bonus feature: many platforms allow you to easily migrate your account to a new instance.
But Lemmy isn't one of those platforms. Right?
Generally I agree with the article that the shutdown of lemm.ee isn't a big deal. It sucks for sure, but the Fediverse survives.
Personally I don't care about account migration. Export/import works fine, but I get that it's a little clunky for some.
Community migration is something that I think is more important and as I understand PieFed handles this. Hopefully Lemmy will someday and even better between Lemmy & PieFed.
Riri Williams had a small introduction in Wanda Forever, but wasn't core to the story. We never learned that much about her, but we got a rough idea of her character.
The show was delayed by a year, year and a half, so instead of being a follow up to Wakanda Forever it awkwardly comes out 2-3 years later.
Disney released it as a quick dump, it's 6 episodes released in quick succession (1 week gap). Generally this means low confidence in the show.
That being said, what I've seen so far, the show generally is pretty good. It's got problems, mainly the pacing. It either needs a few more episodes to flesh out some storylines and characters, or it needs to trim things down and just be a movie.
Now maybe it won't stick the landing, but after three episodes I'm intrigued by the main plot and looking forward to the final three episodes.
The first act and intro is a solid setup. We meet our heroes, they have a great dynamic. Second act struggles a bit, but they're learning to use their powers and setting up the stakes.
To add to the "fatigue" you also have DC not helping out much either. Sony was definitely bottom barrel but even DC struggled at times to fill it even half way. (And sometimes they were absolutely garbage too.)
I think there was for a time a feeling that at least with Marvel you'd get something great. However when even they're just ok the whole field starts to look empty.
I think that's partially why Captain America Brave New World, despite being the worse film, generally did about the same as Thunderbolts. If a film is just going to be "ok" it should at least have some familiar faces.
Into the Spider-verse absolutely deserves a spot on this list.
The only animated films on this list are Spirited Away, Wall-e, Up & Ratatouille.
Ratatouille definitely doesn't deserve a spot, it's good but it's so far below many other films. Wall-e I'm onboard with but Up, while having an excellent intro, both immediately and setup, is just ok in the second half.
Inside out? Incredibles? That's what I would have expected for Pixar films.
Plus, I know it's memed to death but Shrek should absolutely be on the list.
But, going back, if I get one animated films, Spider-verse is where I go. Hell I'd probably put both Spider-verse films on this list.
This would be best. Post Secret Wars the door is wide open. Sony and Marvel can make an extended version of the Spider-man deal and in addition to mutants we can get all of Spider-Man's friends & enemies.
Because Batman Forever is a sequel to a Tim Burton movie.
Batman & Robin is a sequel to a sequel of a Tim Burton movie.
The level of camp/silliness increased for each film.
As a standalone film, it was fine. In the era it came out in, it didn't work.
