The driver shows up as "cups + gutenprint" and as far i can tell there is no other. so i guess that is already the one and only available driver.
and i have to correct myself, it is a Canon, not a Brother. Canon MX300 from 2007.
I mean it is not that big of a deal anyway. there is a single Windows machine left in this household that i can use for print jobs. and yeah, maybe i could use it as print server, that is actually a interesting idea lol.
Printer are worse. try to get a decade old brother to print more than a half page without completely freezing and needing a hard restart. driver is unmaintained unfortunately.
on Windows the printer works perfect though. which makes me quite unhappy :|
wifi on the other hand is not a problem i can remember. even on a 15 year old laptop, the AUR has a driver that it extracts from a ancient .deb and then patches it to make it work with modern kernels. lovely.
Good. We are not doing enough yet. We should blow as much pollution into the air as quickly as possible. And spray as many chemicals on the earth and dump plastic into the oceans as we can.
The sooner we make this planet uninhabitable for human life, the sooner it can begin to regenerate for a future species that will do better.
Humanity, the disease, the parasite, must be completely eradicated.
It is extremely widespread in Europe. In Germany, a good 50 million people (out of 80) use it every day. I would describe myself as very tech-savvy and privacy-conscious and would normally never use it , but since everyone in the family and friends use it without exception, there is no escape. plus quite a lot of business now use whatsapp for contact / support.
Wow, the speech his lawyers just gave is an incoherent rambling that has says absolutely nothing of substance, completely misses all points and stirs people up. He got himself a clone as lawyer.
my second and third knocked me out for 3 full days. I was no longer able to get out of bed. I had severe chills and extreme nausea. I practically puked my guts out for 3 days. i know multiple other people that had very similar reactions.
its a verified seller with over half a million positive reviews and a registered company in germany. so i am quite sure its legit. but yes, the possibility always exists of course.
Refurbished is the word. I got a Ultrastar DC HC520 (12 TB) with zero hours from eBay for 130€. I guess it was originally intended as a replacement but was never used then and just collected dust. So basically brand new hardware. Sometimes you can even catch one that has still manufacturer warranty. One i saw had 5 years left on it.
It goes back to Jerry Nixon, a Microsoft developer that said 2015 on the Microsoft Ignite conference in Chicago
“Right now we’re releasing Windows 10, and because Windows 10 is the last version of Windows, we’re all still working on Windows 10.”
and talking about “Windows as a service” in the future. That started this rumour. And the press went like "MICROSOFT DECLARED!..".
Just that it never did.
What Microsoft later said was
"Recent comments at Ignite about Windows 10 are reflective of the way Windows will be delivered as a service bringing new innovations and updates in an ongoing manner, with continuous value for our consumer and business customers," ... "We aren’t speaking to future branding at this time, but customers can be confident Windows 10 will remain up-to-date and power a variety of devices from PCs to phones to Surface Hub to HoloLens and Xbox. We look forward to a long future of Windows innovations."
There was never a single word explicit saying that Windows 10 will be the last. Only that the future may be "as a Service".
Is there no recycling center around were you live? In germany basically every city has a "Wertstoffhof" that takes everything from old clothes over smaller e-waste (including batteries, etc), larger stuff like fridges to all kinds of reusable / recycleable plastics and metals. Basically everything that can be recycled or reused in some way and is not meant for the normal recycling household trash.
Microsoft never said that. Its a myth that refuses to die. A single developer on a conference mentioned something as a sidenote, the press misinterpreted it and the internet took it and ran with it.
yeah, apart from the admins that have absolute authority over everything and can do whatever the hell they want and make up arbitrary rules that disqualify your perfectly valid sources.
thanks for the tip, i will have a look!
and yeah, funny enough i had less problems getting SMB to work between linux and windows than windows and windows despite it being a Microsoft native.
