  • They would if it would get other Arab nations into the war and result in the destruction of Israel.

The problem a lot of people seem to have with this conflict is they want it to be very simple, Palestine existing in a vacuum where they're just trying to live normal lives.. That's not really the ground reality, it's a nexus of complex bullshit with crazy influences from all sides and centuries long power struggles.

It sucks for people living there but it's not a reality we can hand wave away

  • I get the joke but there's also the question of how many kids are currently Hamas, when kids include anyone under 18 then some of those kids are already going to be actively engaged in combat for Hamas.

Or did we think that in Gaza everyone waits until they're 18 before getting involved?

  • Interesting though that Israel is making great headway in relationships with it's neighbours and this it seen as one of the main reasons that Iran and other fundamentalist organisations trained, supplied and directed the terror attacks and kidnappings which started this current conflict.

Iran doesn't want Israel and Jordan working together on mutually beneficial infrastructure and trade projects, they certainly don't want Israel and Saudi Arabia to sign any agreements or treaties... This conflict is being forced by outside actors who have little regard for Palestinian life but a strong hatred for Israel.

This is not a simple matter, no matter how you look at it there are layers upon layers of complexity.

  • That's such a dumb argument, Hamas would LOVE to kill more civilians in fact they'd like to kill all the Jewish people in Israel. Israel could very easily kill everyone in Gaza but instead they're building complex defensive systems and using incredibly expensive systems to try and limit civilian casualties.

You can't just go on which number is bigger.

  • What's also important to remember is that huge amounts of money floods into Palestine from antisemitic Arab countries like Iran, all the training and materials to build tunnels and rockets and organize scuba and paraglider attacks - that's not given to help people, they could take all those people out and build them a city for a fraction of the cost of the conflict - but of course they won't do that, they don't want to help the people they want the people there and suffering as a justification for the conflict.

The people controlling the anti Israel side have no desire for a friendly solution, certainly in Iran the recent protests and other issues put them in a situation were having an enemy to rally against is exactly what they need.

When people act like Israel should just stop fighting Palestine it totally ignores the reality that the second they drop security measures they'll get attacked, attacks funded by people that would hate to see Palestinians and Jews working together and being friends.

  • There are far less radical feminist men in general because the movement actually wants to destroy the patriarchy and gender stereotypes, third wave 'pickme girlboss show your tits to get ahead in capitalism' feminism is far more paletable to the male gaze.

It's like how Joe Biden's leftwing ethos of screw the poor to pay rich capitalists and oil companies while making lipservice to vaguely progressive ideals (vaguely progressive in 1950) is popular because it's fundamentally anti-change where as anyone that actually wants structural change is automatically marked as a dangerous extremist and shunned.

I've found that both TIRFs and TERFs do have a lot of understandable distrust and hostility towards men but are in general friendly to men who interact reasonably and take on board the things being said without making the normal kneejerk responses and 'but won't someone think of my pennis!' arguments.

So yeah you'll likely find guys in most radfem spaces, except of course those designated explicitly for some purpose. Though yes I do feel being a man in a radfem space is similar to being a woman in tech or occasionally even a woman playing online video games - without the sexual harassment of course, and far less vitriolic abuse.

  • I don't mean to be rude but you're confused and delusional, there isn't a transport authority in the world that thinks we can totally do without cars - I'm all for idealism but it should be at least grounded in some form of reality.

  • You're pushing a very niche view as if it's universal, I get why you're doing it but you're wrong to. There is no single solution to transport requirements and while the vast majority of leftists of course agree public transport is vital it's not a magic solution for everything and outside the car hate bubble is very rare for anyone, even a leftwing person, to be staunchly anticar.

You might not like it but it's reality.

  • I helped someone write bits for a cult one years ago, it was like a spooky story one where at first it seemed like a crazy Christian guy trying to get guys to do gay stuff and you're supposed to be fascinated by this group of ultra religious guys he's got following him and trying to pick up lurid details about their homophobic gay sex cult - but then you slowly realise it's not just the he wanted their bodies, he wanted their bodies and you realise his followers are arranged neatly on his bed as dead as the day he saved them....

It was like a breadcrumbs one, the main stuff was on the internet and you could follow the trail but then you had to go darkweb to get the dramatic conclusion -- the darkweb sites would never work properly though and so he never actually ended up doing anything with it.

  • Yeah I don't think it's new just something you only see in poor areas, it's of course the most expensive way of getting electricity too because they love rubbing a bit of salt in when they screwing the poor.

I remember going to my friends house, the power shut off Saturday night and the post office didn't open until Monday so we were basically camping in his house getting high by candle light.

  • It doesn't even need a work around, it's not going to affect anything when training a model.

It might make style transfer harder using them as reference images on some models but even that's fairly doubtful, it's just noise on an image and everything is already full of all sorts of different types of noise.

  • But power being spread among the people doesn't mean there's no rules or organisation, just because you work in a communist run flour mill doesn't mean you can piss in the flour.

So we get into structure issues, we can all vote on if pissing in the flour should be allowed and what the punishment should be for doing it - this is the difference between communism and anarchy, literally living without a ruler Vs living in commune under shared values.

We dont all want to spend all day voting on what we can piss on so we could theoretically vote for a representative we like to do that for us - if all the local villages did that the representatives could all get together and debate and vote somewhere but to stop everyone talking over each other you'd want a secretary so they could vote for one and if the secretaries all got together for a regional or national meeting they would want a secretary too...

It would be natural to expect these people to act in the best interest of the people without ruining and asking everyone to vote on every little thing but of course they're not going to be acting in the best interests of the flour pissers - from the flour pissers perspective if the top secretary passes a bill to say no flour pissing then they're a big bad authoritarian.

(And don't confuse dictator with authoritarian, they're not synonyms)

  • I mean literally literally means literally not 'kinda a bit if you look with a squint and ignore the rest'

I get the urge to make your point but imagine you see someone talking about baking and they say 'sugar is just dry salt' you're not going to listen to anything they say

  • I really have no idea what people are trying to say or getting at in a lot of these comments, it feels like one of those art experiments where words don't have meaning but are used to express emotion
