I have considered not only figuring out how to setup Linux on my computer but also considered starting to watch Star Trek. It's been almost a year since I've been on Lemmy and I haven't caved yet.... But my time may be coming soon.....
This was the first election, since I came of voting age, that I didn't receive a voting pamphlet that told me about all the individuals running and where my voting site was. I had to go out of my way to look up my county's ballot measures and to find my voting location. To say I extremely upset about this, is an understatement.
I was about the same. Around junior high I was like, "wtf am I doing?" For me the first part was "under God," that got to me. I had found it weird as a child even to say that and then I realized I didn't want to say that at all. I thought it was strange when supposedly, we're allowed to believe whatever we want. I never felt the connection or belief in the Catholic God (what I was, very, loosely raised under) and it started there. Hand on heart omitting , "under God." Slowly it progressed to just standing and saying nothing. It's probably been well over a decade since I've been in a situation to say the pledge, but if I were, I know I wouldn't stand anymore.
I also, do not always stand for the National Anthem.
Ahhhhh... Love that line. My brother and his fiance just had a baby and are debating on vaccines or not. They asked me, I said, it's always better to get them and protect your child from as much as you possibly can. Like all of us here are vaccinated. I recommended that they follow what their doctor recommends. My dad chimes in with, "Doctors don't know everything, they're just trying to sell drugs for the pharmaceutical companies, that's all they care about." I looked at him and said, "As someone who studied biology in college, there's a lot that a lot of us don't know. But seeing as that doctor has had significantly more training than I've had, let alone you, I'm going to trust them more than some random article I've read online." He stopped talking to me for a large portion of the day after that.
I would have early voted if I knew I could. I legitimately didn't know that was an option for myself until if was over. I thankfully was able to go on voting day, so it's ok. But for the first time in my voting life, I never received my voting pamphlet with all the usual info as well as my voting location. I had to look everything up and that really made me mad. So I could easily understand some people legitimately missing their opportunity to vote because they weren't provided the information to be able to get out there and do it.
As someone who previously worked in food manufacturing, getting your products into Costco was a huge deal. But also, the Costco audits were a huge deal and boy are the ones I dealt with thorough. It made me respect Costco even more.
Definitely more than 5 years. I still remember some fires back in 2009 that we're jumping the freeways and I had to wait over a day and travel almost triple the amount of time to make it back home while being worried the whole time that my family's house would burn down.
I feel like depends on the cat. I found mine as a list kitten that we assumed got outside and then was starving and almost dead. He's always been N indoor cat. Had never seen a mouse in the 8 years he was alive. I go out of town for a day and night and come back to a decapitated mouse in the apt. Fool took care of shit without even knowing. Then years later, we move into a house and a mouse gets in some how. My cat finds the mouse, kills it, walks around with it, then drops it in the hallway for us to clean up. If he had been taught how to catch mice when he was a kitten, I he wouldn't have been starving to death. But when a mouse showed up, he knew exactly what to do.
To my understanding she failed the baby bar 3 or 4 times... I believe she's been at it for... 6 years now or maybe more and is behind those who simply just went to college for their 4 years.
At my local Walmart I regularly see people with their cart full of groceries going through the self checkout lanes. It's immensely annoying when you only have 1 or 2 items. And it's not like they don't have cashiers either. There are even multiple self checkout lanes with belts and yet for some reason these people always go through the smaller self checkout lanes.
Yes! I signed up for my local library! Their ebook system is well... Subpar... So I also signed up for my parents local library in another state and can now use libby! It's amazing!
I actually saw firefly last summer and the year before flying around my neighborhood. I will say though, that I saw way less of the last year than the year before. It's made me wonder if I'll even see them at all this summer.
I buy via https://stnrcreations.com/
Get them delivered straight to my house. Delta 8 is federally legal, so that's what you can purchase from the regardless of state. Where I live, all the smoke/vape shops also sell a bunch of delta 8 products. But I've preferred the stnr brand over most things I've tried.
Omg it has images from 6 years ago and 7 months ago. The difference is absolutely mind blowing. But also in general, to see how it looks now its just so depressing.
I've been reading a book right now that's based in the 1930s and this looks and feels like the Hoovertowns they describe.
