Technically it's 1280x800 which is 720p but slightly taller. While saying it has an 800p display would technically be correct it doesn't provide context for the actual resolution of the display since it's only half of the full description of the resolution and there's no widely agreed upon "800p" resolution. 720p has a coded understanding for how sharp a display is among tech knowledgable people. 800p has no such history. So while saying the steam deck has a 720p display may not be technically correct its actually a much more useful descriptor as most people understand how sharp that display is going to be.

Technically this "1080p" display isn't even 1080p. Its 1920x1200 but it has the same pixel density as a similarly sized 1080p 16:9 display. So we say 1080. 4k is also not 4000 pixels. Its 3840x2160

Edit: Apparently the decksite is actually a 16:9 1080p display. I had assumed it kept the aspect ratio of the deck itself. It evidently does not.

I mean. Most of the article is devoted to addressing this exact question. Before, it was just about making games playable on modern computers. This is about preserving games for the long term and making sure things are compatible with machines far into the future. The distinction may be a minor one but there is a difference in what this is vs. what they've been doing in the past. In fact this initiative is being worked towards because of their past experience in preserving games not separate from it.

Nobody said anything about gun bans. Just gun control laws. I'm also well aware that gun control laws disproportionately affect minorities and I myself am not in favor of strict gun laws. (Though common sense screenings make a lot of sense to me)

I was merely poking fun at the right's pro gun rhetoric and proclivity to completely disregard rhetoric when it inconveniences the rich.

Republicans are going to start being in favor of gun control laws if the gun violence pendulum starts swinging in that direction. Not sure if that would be a win or not.

I cannot imagine being so insecure with your manness that you feel the need to protest a razor commercial asking you to be a better dude.

I've been afflicted with Manhood my whole life. And razor ads asking me to be better doesn't threaten me. In fact, they're right, I can be a better man. I should go do the dishes; just after I feel better. This debilitating minor cold is getting me real down.

While that's obviously very sad and tragic the purpose of criminal justice should never be vengeance or an eye for an eye. It should be about rehabilitation and reintegration. Yes it's awful that a life was lost but functionally removing another life from society for forever is hardly a good solution.
