  • In my experience running non-steam games through steam with proton is the best way to play those games too. The only time I've ever had to use lutris was when I had to install some DLC for a GOG application on the same prefix as the game because it had a separate exe installer for that DLC. I haven't been able to figure out a way to do that through steam. But once I got that done I just ran the game through steam and it worked perfectly. The heroic games launcher gets suggested a lot too but I literally have never been able to get it to work for a single game.

  • I never understood this whole thing anyway. The whole reason womens sports exist separately from mens sports in the first place is because women can't (usually) compete with the men. If there was a female athlete playing basketball for example that was way better than any other female player in the sport and that woman was able to be successfully competitive in the mens league in my eyes she should just compete with the men. If she cant really compete in the mens league she should play with the women. To my understanding there's nothing stopping a female athlete from being in the 'mens' league if she were good enough. This doesn't even have to be about gender. It just feels like you could look at every situation on a case by case basis and make a common sense determination based upon what works best for that particular athlete. I hate that this has become a stupid argument.

  • He can't just "do it anyway" if people refuse to comply with his orders and the courts refuse to back him up. What do you think Trump is going to do? Walk over to somebody's desk, pick them up out of their chair, and physically throw them out the building himself?

  • "We got rid of the lidar sensors on our cars because they weren't needed. Instead we zip tied some gopros to the front. Trust me. They're just as good. You definitely won't die."

  • And this guys proposal isn't to punish the administration. It's to make the administration ineffectual by having judges ignore cases brought forward by the administration until the administration complies with other court orders.

For instance. Trump tries to fire a guy. Guy says "no you don't have the authority." Trump says "yes I do. I'll go to the courts and get them to prove you wrong." Courts go "don't care. You're ignoring [some other court order against trump]. We wont hear this case until you comply with the previous order." The result would be that the guy keeps his job despite whether or not Trump can or can't fire him. At least that's this guy's idea to my understanding.

I'm also not trying to say it would be effective or even remotely doable. Just pointing out that criticizing the plan for something it's not attempting to do doesn't make any sense.

  • Well no. As others have said the force in the pole will travel at the speed of sound.

Though if you were to wiggle the flashlight back and forth really fast the spotlight on the moon would travel "faster" than the speed of light.

  • Right. So if I have he/him in my email signature I get fired. But if i have hugely racist and problematic tweets that are less than a year old while having almost no experience or credentials whatsoever other than being a little buddy buddy with Musk I get to push out dangerous untested code to the most important payment system in the country so musk can block social security benefits for Grandma like he blocks tweets talking about how terrible a father he is. Got it.

  • Um. This is just flatly not true. For starters, according to the Chinese government themselves only 23 military personel died. And those casualties only occurred AFTER the peoples liberation army started using live rounds against protesters the evening of June the 3rd 1989. And the 300 number is very conservative. The actual number is likely in the thousands.

You very clearly are either a troll just making things up or you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about

  • I think the best parallel that could be drawn would be the [Kent State Shootings.] (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kent_State_shootings) given the similarities between the Kent state students' goals and the Tiananmen students' goals.

Though even then there were only four fatalities. No where near Tiananmen. Plus the US government isn't doing anything to try to hide the murders either.

  • Are you seriously comparing the Tiananmen square massacre where at least 300 peaceful protesters/students were killed by the Chinese military to the Jan 6 riots where there were only two people killed? (Technically there were 5 deaths but three of them were either overdoses or natural causes). One was a cop killed by the rioters and another was a lady warned several times that she was going to be shot if she continued to break into the capital building.

These are not even remotely similar situations.
