  • You won't get banned for using a 3rd-party client or client mod, unless you abuse the API in doing so (which you're not likely to do accidentally).

Anyway, the short answer is: yes.

I think all of the major client mods on PC have anti-tracking plugins. I use Vencord which comes with a "NoTrack" plugin by default (it disables Discord telemetry, metrics, and crash reporting). It also has a "ClearURLs" plugin that removes tracking elements from URLs. BetterDiscord also has similar plugins.

You can couple these with OpenAsar (it's compatible with all client mods - I use it alongside Vencord). Along with speeding up your Discord, it also comes with a "DoNotTrack" plugin that disables discord telemetry.

On Android, you can use Vendetta which, again, has a "NoTrack" Plugin you can add that disables discord telemetry and tracking.

  • it's another name for dancehall

  • Some apps support this (e.g Liftoff).

  • Either block the community or block the bot. The latter is the better option, imo.

This is doable in-app, go to the bots profile page and there should be a block button.

  • I strongly caution anyone from downloading or even visiting either of those links. They are not official and set up by third-parties, who could be doing it for various malicious reasons.

    Revanced is here

    Revanced extended is here

For both, you'll also need Vanced MicroG installed.

    XDA has a step-by-step guide.

  • Deezer is a streaming service like Spotify. Unlike Spotify, you can download directly from Deezer using piracy tools such as Deezloader. The user then presumably uploaded these to FunkWhale, so as to own their own local collection.

  • Yep. NextDNS if you want something simple and easy with good customisability, piHole if you want and are capable of putting your own together.

Quad9 if you just want something that's completely free, protects you from malware, and respects your privacy.

  • ooh didn't know Summit had this, might make it my main.

I agree, this is an essential feature for all lemmy apps imo

  • Yes I know, the owners of lemmygrad/lemmy.ml created lemmy

  • this is technically true, but it's not why lemmygrad, ran by full on communists, chose the .ml tld

  • Honestly IMO it's a bit cringe for me that so many people are like, "fuck these Lemmy apps this [insert unreleased app] is amazing!".

Like calm down, lol. Let's see how it'll be first, a lot of the Lemmy apps are great right now.

    Signed, a Reddit Boost user.

  • Lemmit.online is just a bot reposting from Reddit, I'd ignore those ones

    • Translate Web Pages - translates entire pages into your language, can do it automatically. Google Chrome may have this feature built-in but other Chromium browsers don't.
    • Bitwarden - password manager.
    • Consent-O-Matic, automatically fills out cookie banners for you (e.g, it'll auto deny all cookies). This is better than just hiding or ignoring the cookie banner. It doesn't work on every cookie banner though.
    • Decentraleyes - "Protects you against tracking through "free", centralised, content delivery. It prevents a lot of requests from reaching networks like Google Hosted Libraries, and serves local files to keep sites from breaking. Complements regular content blockers."
    • uBlock Origin - with the right filters, this will catch almost any ads, trackers, and help protect you from malware while browsing the web.

Some bonus ones that aren't really essential but nice to have:

    • Imagus - Enlarge thumbnails, and show images/videos from links with a mouse hover.
    • Coutry Flag Fixer - properly displays flag emojis
    • Dark Reader - nice dark mode for any website.
    • Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on - Tells the Google Analytics JavaScript not to send information to Google Analytics.
    • IBA Opt-out - Opt out of Google's interest-based ads as you browse the web with Chrome.
    • Reddit Enhancement Suite - if you still use old.reddit, this will improve your experience significantly.
    • SponsorBlock - auto skip sponsors in YouTube videos, and other useless content.
    • Stopaganda Plus - displays a bias rating from mediabiasfactcheck.com for countless news outlets. Understanding the biases of news outlets is essential to understanding their point-of-view.
    • Web Archives - view archived versions of pages. Particularly useful if you ever come across a link that has since died.
  • I believe it was a proposed UI for mobile reddit that they didn't stick with.

  • CityFibre is merely providing the infrastructure. It's up to the individual ISPs whether or not they use CGNAT (there's 35+ ISPs that use CityFibre's infrastructure).

There's a limited comparison list here of the more popular ones, but most of them don't seem to use CGNAT :)

  • it reminded me of oldschool bf2 :( used to be able to do the same on that
