  • My uncle spent years preaching to me about the need to be loyal to a company. I never drank the Kool-Aid. He spent 21 years working for an investment banking company in their IT department. 4 years before he was set to retire with a full pension, etc. his company was acquired by a larger bank. He lost everything except his 401k. He then spent the next 12 years working to get his time back so he’d be able to retire. He died 2 years ago and the company sent a bouquet of flowers.

THE COMPANY DOESN’T CARE ABOUT YOU!!

  • I completely agree with you on this. You mentioned early in your post that the ability to block instances is coming soon. As a Lemmy user that came over during the Redd-exit, there was a lot of “noise” on the All feed that has taken me some time to sift through and cater to my personal preference.

It’s for this reason why I too am, currently, against defederation. If there’s a community I don’t want to hear from, I block them. If there’s a user I don’t want to hear from, I block them. In the near future, when there are instances I don’t want to hear from, I will block them too.

While I might not want to hear from some people, their right to exist within the Fediverse should not be questioned, unless they break the rules. In which case, the user is banned/post locked or removed and we carry on living our lives.

  • Are you fucking high?!? 38° is a hot summer day in Europe. Thats 100.4° F. When I lived there I hated life. Mosquitoes outside my window without a screen, so a breeze was out of the question. No A/C inside so breathing was also out of the question. I eventually found reprieve in the form of a 5” fan sold to me by an old man.

Point is, celsius or fahrenheit, its fucking hot

  • I am American. I just think we’ve got a fucked up political system and can learn a lot from around the globe. I also support Ranked-choice voting and doing away with the two party system in favor of multiple parties (since there’s a lot of gray areas and less black or white). Once formed the parties can align forming coalitions to determine leadership of the upper and lower houses. While I’m at it, let’s add term limits and age limits to ALL 3 government branches (that’s right SCOTUS, I’m looking at you)

Finally, I’d also love to see Question Time added to the US structure.

  • “Wish I could just wake up and it not be true But it is, oh, it is…”

Thanks for sharing, first time hearing him and I’m a fan. I love the old school country-folk style.

  • I like these games. I do. But at the same time I don’t. They’re repetitive in the gameplay and it gets stale to the point where I never finish them.

Along with the Assassins Creed series, they have sucked me in and don’t deliver enough to maintain my business, yet a couple of months after a release when I see them go on sale the end up in my collection.

I’m hoping this news will end in an awesome game that I’m obviously going to buy and that I will actually finish, for once

  • $50 for a current game is a shitty value. And no matter how much I love RDR, it’s a shittier value for a 13 year old game.

Maybe its me but I’m tired of games from the PS3/360 era still being sold as new today. Make new games! Or, build online worlds that live and breathe for decades and make the “games” exist in that same space.

How many times have you beat a game and thought, well if there were just more missions, this would continue being fun. I personally would opt for that versus remastered games. In theory the process of porting could have been avoided by just importing the dialogue and overlaying it on top of RDR2 so that the two games are literally merged together.

  • It’s sad the times we’re living through. When I was growing up and getting smarter in school, I expected the rest of the world was too.

Yet, its 2023 and we still have Nazi’s out there thinking it’s okay to hate and people who think the world is flat.

  • I work for “the mouse” and from an insider’s perspective, the company is fucking retarded. The left hand doesn’t talk to the right and neither hand has any idea they’ve got feet. It’s the most siloed company I’ve ever been a part of.

  • I don’t trust entrepreneurs because capitalism, in my opinion, is pure greed. Taking more than you need.

I don’t trust people who believe in God because putting your faith in an imaginary friend in the sky is the most out of touch concept ever. There is nothing out there to save you. Be good or bad, because its the way you feel, not because the cloud man will approve or disapprove.

I wouldn’t call my feelings hate, just a lack of apathy. People are free to have the same or differing opinions from my own. They don’t need to respect my beliefs and I don’t need to respect theirs.

  • I don’t understand why it’s such a hard concept for politicians to side with. US politics is just a cesspool of political lobbyists throwing money at politicians to get them to act in the best interests of corporations.

It’s “we the people” not “we the LLC”

  • Beef’s turn…

    c. 1300, "an ox, bull, or cow," also the flesh of one when killed, used as food, from Old French buef "ox; beef; ox hide" (11c., Modern French boeuf), from Latin bovem (nominative bos, genitive bovis) "ox, cow," from PIE root *gwou- "ox, bull, cow." The original plural in the animal sense was beeves
