  • The number of times I've had to explain to adults that the sun is a star is way more than it should be. It never stops being so disappointing too that even the most basic shit, not this exclusively, is just something so many people don't know, think about, have any interest in and don't ever read more than the sparse title about that thing in the news (those titles and articles often being partly of fully false).

  • Avatar was always about being a visual feast, which Avatar 2 definitely succeeded in IMO. I like them for what they are, great popcorn flicks.

  • They didn't abandon the cat, it was a cat who was let out when he wanted that just decided to go to our door. I fully agree that anyone who abandons pets should be banned from ever being able to have one, but it's not the case here. They, the "owners", said that they had started looking at places that would take him in to be adopted by someone else (not that I can say if it's true or not). They got the cat before their kids were born, and they realised the kids and the cat don't work together. Only negative I can say about the parents is that they decided to get rid of the cat instead of teaching their kids to not be assholes towards animals.

  • You say that like most governments are acting like the US, which is just so dumb. Your comment reeks of "I only know about the US government and nothing else".

  • Yeah, not being a kid and knowing enough about Five Nights at Freddy's is a major red flag, good that he recognises that (but still bad that he even has to in the first place).

  • My family had 4 cats when I was born, all had been found as stray kittens or literally come to the door and begged to get in (second story of an apartment building with lots of other choices of doors). We found the owner of one and they just said "keep him, we realised a while ago we shouldn't have gotten a pet in the first place".
Then when I was a teenager a cat came to our door just the same, during a huge storm, went directly into my room where I was sleeping and laid down basically on top of me and stayed there the whole night. I remember waking up thinking "who the fuck is this?".
We bonded immediately and he became mine more than ours. A few weeks after that we found the family he had come from and they also just told us to keep him because they had two 3-year-olds who weren't playing nicely with him and they saw that he had a better home with us.
He moved out with me when I got my own apartment and we were best friends till he passed about 10 years later (he was already 5 when he came to us). Haven't gotten a pet of any kind since then, he was the best cat and friend I've ever had/known. Still dream about him at least once a month and it's been 8 years since he passed.

  • It's been awesome to see how it went from something you had to go to vegan only stores or order online to now when it's the norm, now it's just checking every kind you buy because a few still have animal products in them but as you said, it's mostly vegan. It's just non-dark chocolate that's normally not vegan now, and I don't expect that to change.

  • Diversity is everywhere, the US isn't special (in any good way, at least).

  • these*

  • They also believe they are a majority of the world population, which is incredibly obvious if you spend any time online (that theu believe that, not that they are that). Several times when I've said that the US population is 3% of the world population I've gotten replies saying that can't be true or that I and dumb for believing obviously false facts or obvious anti-American propaganda... Absolutely pathetic.

  • The best bong is the one you have with you, same goes for the liquid inside it.

  • Yeah, the only two antivaxxers I know (more did know) have fried their brains to mush with drugs so them believing that shit isn't surprising. I did lots of drugs in my 20s and knew a lot of people who did even more than me, and the two people who were always the "worst" with their use are the only ones I am aware of who are antivaxxers (In Sweden, it's not common here at all). They'd lick a literally turd if they saw someone sprinkle some unknown powder on it just for the chance of it making them high in any way, but they would fight to their death if anyone tried to vaccinate them specifically only with a covid vaccine.

  • The stool legs need to be dildos too.

  • Never lived in a house, only apartments with no stairs (inside the apartments) and this is obvious even to me. You can know something without ever having owned or lived with that thing.

  • Peanut

  • Yeah, it's not the same there as in Scandinavia. My big sister lived in Spain for about 10 years and got robbed several times, while she has lived in Sweden the rest of her life and had never been robbed. I realise this can partially be because she didn't know what to do right in Spain to not get robbed, but the simple fact that it's something she (and mostly everyone else) in Scandinavia never need to learn or think about says something about the difference. I'm in no way saying Spain or anywhere else is a worse place or that the people there are worse, it's just a fact and there's no other meaning behind it.

  • Nothing new about it, the US has been using it for decades.

  • This is like the Thanos glove with the stones (can't remember the actual names) but for Nintendo in the 80s and 90s. The only thing missing is a power glove which it's all mounted on, and an NES Zapper somehow integrated into it all.
