Your own domain, but you're safer not hosting your own email servers in general. Just wanted to be clear for anyone reading this. If your mail server is down you don't get mail 🫠
I ended up using a service that isn't Google for that with my own domain
I do think that even with the "this is woke I'm not listening" crowd it's possible. You need to practice active listening to get in the door though. Tell them what you hear and explain it in your words. Sometimes you hear wrong and sometimes they realize how dumb it sounds when you repeat it again.
Idk it seems totally possible... A lot of work.... But possible. Aside from raising my kids to think correctly and be good people that's the only other way I can benefit society / the people around me. I just listen and challenge, and try to keep my personal feelings out of it initially.
It just really feels like people want everything distilled into a 30s tiktok video and its really hard to see everything go that direction..
I think its not pointless. Many people are not intentionally this way, they've just fallen for propaganda.
I was one of those people, but because I had a good friend at a job who didn't judge me and gave me a more informed and alternate viewpoint, it really changed my mind on a lot of things.
There are some people who might honestly be open to having a true discussion, and that's the first step to changing minds I think.
I have had better luck where instead of trying to prove someone wrong, I make them just say their opinion out loud and explain it very clearly for me. Some people realize how shallow their views and knowledge are when you do this for them
I don't doubt it... but there has to be some way to pull people back from the hole they've dug themselves into. Straight up ignoring them seems counterproductive, but you're right... I'm not an expert and im sure people have tried
It just feels sad and frustrating to me as well. This guy obviously seems to have some talent but got sucked into something that overshadows his talent with just plain idiocy on things he doesn't know anything about it seems like...
Really sad times
Edit: just read the article you sent. This was particularly in the case of sending out messaging where people can't have a discussion back with you.
I totally understand and I'm more ranting about this just in general.. My in laws are super Trumpers and just going down the rabbit hole. I totally get that its exhausting to argue or try to push them to think about the shit they are saying, but its the only thing I can think of that MIGHT help
Does being intolerant of intolerance actually work though?
Note: I'm not being tolerant of their views, im challenging them constantly on them in a constructive way (at least to me). It doesn't generally go over well, but it has helped seemingly to treat them with respect and to do active listening and challenge that by making them actually feel like you've heard them.
Just alienate them more and they will get better on their own.... Right?
I think the guy you're responding to is saying that communication and not alienation is how we bring these people out of whatever holes they've dug themselves into.
I know hes getting downvoted a ton, but if my take on what he wrote is correct then I also agree with him.
The reason the world is so divided right now is because nobody wants to talk through things with open minds and with empathy.
Tor itself may not be, but private users are competing against NSA resources or something
Take everything I say with a grain of salt. I don't think the protocol itself is broken with enough people doing exit nodes, and I think normal people will benefit from privacy granted by tor.
But I bet with high certainty that if the NSA wants you it can probably find you.
The below YouTubers I've seen before but I also can't independently verify whether they are just click baiting or not...
Pretty sure tor is a honeypot... Not sure the alternatives though
Edit: maybe honeypot is not the right word, but at the nation-state level this won't keep you anonymous I'm guessing. Good for normal people who want more privacy
Some movies just refused to play for me. Subtitles for certain releases just straight up wouldn't load on my lg TV, and then instead of nice picture subtitles I got shitty looking ones.
Idk... I ran it in docker and just assumed it'd all work but it doesn't.
Also, I really like that plex stores you're watched state on their server. I lost a jellyfin db once and had to remember what shows I was watching. There's not a good sync to cloud or something feature for that... Yet another container and solution I have to stand up aside from my media
Yeah jellyfin just isn't as good. After having issues on LG webos where captions won't load for like 5 minutes and dealing with that for like 2 years I gave up and went back to plex.
Fwiw bazzite itself is new but it's just built on top of Fedora and is really stable. I have only had one issue with kernel panic on boot but rolling back was as easy as picking my version before the last update. Was fixed in less than a day
I don't understand how it's irrelevant? The drivers work great and it's a solid distro that doesn't have the issues of package updates breaking your pc without a way back easily.
To me it fixed every issue that I had with Ubuntu /shrug
They can downvote if they want, it's just internet points. I still recommend bazzite
Finamp is good for android and has a flatpak
