  • ADHD is a disease. You have to go to a doctor to get diagnosed with it. You have to take medicine to be treated for it. It's studied by medical schools and described in the DSM. It's genetic and terminal, so the medicine never heals you, unfortunately. It sucks, I know, but it is definitely a disease. No, you can't "catch" it, but you can't "catch" Type 1 diabetes either. That is also genetic and terminal.

  • Yes, this reads as either "let n be an element of the natural numbers" or more simply "let n be natural"

  • Net Zero? I definitely used it for a while.

  • Yeah, I think OP has created a false dichotomy here

  • Like yeah, I mean it sounded like a joke, but it's really fucking serious. I've submitted nearly 1,000 resumes, have had maybe three or four interviews from that, and they've all been like kthanxbye.

  • That makes sense

  • I see your point, but to be fair, this is a memetic transfer of information.

  • 300 hours? What did you install?

Edit: nm, didn't see the community name at first

  • Yeah, Gentoo builds everything from source. Supposed to make it faster, but I didn't notice enough of a difference to make it worth my while.

  • For me, my first exposure to Linux was around that same time, but with SuSE. It's still my go-to distro, even though I've installed and used dozens of different ones. Compiling Gentoo over a weekend is a fun experience at least once.

  • Not certain, I haven't installed red hat in several years.

  • Aww, I miss Solaris.

  • I'm pretty sure that both Red Hat Enterprise and SUSE Enterprise require a license key.

  • He also was a bully at camp :c he stole that one guy's boxer shorts and hoisted them on the flag pole.

  • Interview for a new job for which I am perfectly qualified: "Tell me about a time that you something which I do at least weekly in my current position"

    My brain: (white noise)

  • I am this way completely. If I don't fully understand all the details of something, I have no chance of remembering it. Elementary math classes were difficult in college because they infrequently included formal proofs, but as I progressed into more advanced courses I found I really loved math. The formal proofs made the difference. I need to be convinced that something is true; I can't simply take it at face value.

  • Showerthoughts @lemmy.world

I wonder if antivax kids are OK getting a cootie shot?
