Reading through these comments... yikes guys. I use TikTok sometimes, and love the content it provides that YouTube does not provide. Seeing the straight up hate for the app, mixed with the misunderstanding of what the app CAN be if you actually use it, is chilling to say the least. If they were banning ALL social media apps, and their companies, I'd be all for this. As it is, I can not see why you would all be cheering so hard for TikTok to be sold to some American asshole, just for it to start getting enshittified, and then STILL sell your data to Russia, China, and anyone else who wants a slice. The fact you are all hating on TikTok so much, but not questioning our own American social media companies, and wanting them to be banned too, is frightening.

I've seen a few comments saying it is spyware. On iOS at least, there is an icon that pops up to let you know when an app is using your camera or microphone. Not only that, but when you start an app for the first time, it has to request to you the user if you want to allow it access to these things. I said no, of course, because when I first started using it, I fucking hated TikTok. Turns out, when you use it for like a week, it starts to get REALLY good at delivering content you want to see.

Anyway, it doesn't matter, as I'm sure plenty of you will disagree, complain, and then go on using your American owned social medias, that are still hoovering up and selling your data.

The only differences being that China wasn't making a cent out of me, nor do any of these equally shitty American social medias. Oh well, I guess we just really love our own little national narratives.

I fucking love KDEs Windows 95 theming for some of the interface, while still looking sleek and fast as hell. That and the Plastik theme for the minimize, fullscreen, and exit buttons. :)

I agree, although I do like a MacOS-like dock, because when I was a kid using Gnome, I always loved the dock it came with by default. I'm a filthy casual though, so I can see why some don't like the docks.

It really goes like this:

I buy product. Product has no ads, and works really well.

After updates, my device starts showing ads and works worse than it had before.

I bought the device. It is my device. I should be able to do what I want with my device, that I spent my money on, the way I like it. If that means I don't want your shitty ads, then I should be able to avoid or opt out of those by default.

You buy cookbook. Cookbook has what you need already, which is why you purchased it.

The one you purchased it from comes and "updates" your book by scribbling in ads for it's other recipe books, and they did it really sloppily to boot.

Now, when you are looking for a specific recipe that you knew was in the book before, instead it is an ad for their other recipe book in place of where the recipe you were looking for was.

Sure, you can still find your recipe somewhere in the book, but as you flip through the books pages you see more and more and more ads for their other recipe books, and oh, now they are also showing you ads from some of their sponsors.

You paid for the book. It is rightfully yours to do with it as you please.

The recipe book company already got your money, yet they are insistent you buy more from them, and have even gone as far as defacing your book.

EDIT: And for someone who was supposedly in EMS, that means you would have seen the direct consequences of what going TOO fast can do to the human bodies, and their vehicles involved. So, therefore if you were a sane individual, you would encourage people to follow the posted SPEED LIMIT. No, I learned what NOT to do from idiots who think they can safely drive over 90-100 MPH. Get the fuck over yourself, and just realize that going faster than 90 MPH DRASTICALLY increases your chances of colliding with something, someone, or LOSING CONTROL OF YOUR FUCKING VEHICLE.

I've never seen one of those in my state. I DO see plenty of SPEED LIMIT 70 MPH signs though. I think the keep right is fucking stupid, because it just causes drivers to swerve in and out of traffic, which is dangerous for multiple reasons, but will also cause congestion on the on ramps on to the interstate itself. It just goes to show you how each state having it's own laws for driving is fucking stupid also.

I disagree. I think that just emboldens the fools who think they can drive over 100 MPH. If I am in the left lane, it is because I need to be in that lane. Point blank. I don't care where you live, and what your states laws are, mine do not have those stupid ass laws.

I've seen so many wrecks because of assholes trying to go 85-150 MPH on a god damn road. The comments here enforce the idea that people are just selfish, self centered motherfuckers when it comes to driving on the highway. There is a posted fucking speed LIMIT for a god damn reason. Leave earlier if you want to get to your fucking destination on time.

Plenty of people remember and adore the first two games, and even tactics. Bethesda's version of Fallout is great, and so are the originals. Get over yourself.

I am on a slightly different path in that I have always not splurged on myself because I always wanted to know I was secure, but after the shit show that has been the last 6 years, I now splurge more than ever because I'm not even sure if I'll be here tomorrow.

Truly, at this point, all that I ever worked hard for in life is so far out of my reach, I just really do not give a fuck anymore.

I replaced the battery and RAM on a Macbook Pro 8,1 running Pop_OS recently and the damn thing didn't even work better. The battery still only lasted around an hour or two on medium brightness and YouTube @ 720p. Absolutely garbage, and it really made me feel like a fool for spending the extra money on that damn thing.

Also, since it looks like you’re on iPhone, Paprika 3. Worth every penny.

And if you are not the most tech savvy, read through the options to make sure it is what you need removed. Removing everything might break some things, because M$.

I can safely say that removing the telemetry is absolutely essential. Remove it from Firefox, and (ew) Chrome (ew, ew) alongside Windows telemetry because fuck that shit.

There's some reading for you to do, so that you understand the risks involved with letting some asshat company, who does not give a flying fuck about you, have even more leverage on the internet than they already do.

Use AI as a means to address real, and actual problems that could be fixed with data that shows the problem areas, what the areas problem is, and with just a tiny little bit of thinking, fix those issues so that you quell the entire problem of homelessness from the getgo? Ew, fuck no!

Use it to make the poor miserable peasants problems even worse, while not even considering the alternative that would be fixing the exact issue you are wasting tax money on and prevent it from happening nearly as much? HELL YEAH BROTHER!
