  • Moonlight is unreasonably capable. I initially dismissed it when I had shoddy performance between a wireless desktop and the steam deck. Then I set up tailscale and tried it outside the home during a lunch break, it was impossibly smooth. I thought maybe it was something to do with the fiber at my work. So I tried it at a friend's place in the next town over with the same ISP, impossibly smooth.

Now I'm in the process of overhauling my home network to figure out why it's better outside my home.

  • They're not spectacular but I love them as a work phone. They manage to have gestures for flashlight and camera that don't drain the battery immediately. If anyone has recommendations for another brand with gestures or an app that's fairly battery efficient please let me know.

  • And even then it only borrows the bullet points of the story. I prefer the approach they took with this game compared to say FF7's where the story definitely feels like it's improved if you are more familiar with the original.

  • The Punisher's iconic story is about him executing his coworkers on the police force for killing his family. He's the most directly anti-cop comic book character. But all the vets-turned-cops just remember how cool the skull looked ironed on to their gear in the military I guess.

  • It's infuriating to me that only Steam and EA's stores have gifting built in. Most of my games budget goes to buying small-squad multiplayer games like Deep Rock Galactic and Sea of Thieves for people.

Sure you can buy a key anywhere but I love seeing at a glance that an acquaintance has a particular DLC or game to surprise them rather than asking them first. And then there's a small chance they thank you for the key and pass it on to someone else instead of just telling you they don't like game, while Steam has a handy decline button.

  • I still can't believe Alien Isolation came from the same studio that made Rome: Total War. Though I imagine the developer overlap was quite small. I've never bothered to look further into the credits however.

  • Caves of Qud doesn't have a very big OST but I happened to absolutely love it. The game is similar to Rogue (or more directly Dwarf Fortress adventure mode), as in time only passes when you move and everything is represented by a tile, but it has pretty good controller support as of a recent update.

  • I think that's part of the indie fascination of low poly horror. If your brain has to do some translating/inferencing of what it is seeing it adds a visceral element that horror especially benefits from

  • But that's not what compensation for the commute would incentivize. I don't understand why people think getting paid to drive to work would mean employees would spend most of the week driving. It would mean employers would only hire employees who live upstairs.
