  • Maybe her third thumb is just a little slender. If I position my hand like that, I can almost reach. I don't think hands with those proportions would be impossible. It's probably a little wonky genetically, being her third arm and all.

  • It's extra impressive. It got 15 fingers right!

  • Well it is a catholic holiday. Traditionally you then suck up to god for 40 days and 40 nights. I just choose to forego that part. Only transgress. Never feel guilt.

  • Drunken, costumed dancing and making out in inappropriate places totally checks out. But it's any and every type of person. Apparently Mardi Gras season brings over a million tourists to New Orleans every year. Make yourself one of them for the actual week of Mardi Gras, and you too can brown out, dance on a truck, and fuck a stranger behind a broken down float! Anyone can! It's a carnival of sin! Everyone gets to make mistakes!

  • Wat. That's so weird to hear when you grew up in a Mardi Gras area. It's originally a catholic holiday where you get all your sins and urges out before you start your 40 days of pious Lent. In practice it's a massive racous party. In my life, we take the sin part very seriously.

  • Mardi Gras does not get the love it deserves. It is a holiday explicitly dedicated to sin an excess. It's a day to spit in god's eye. It's a day to break rules and violate taboos. Mardi Gras without Lent is a top tier holiday. As long as you're careful not to observe Lent afterwards, you're free to call Mardi Gras a Discordian holiday. Valentine's Day is not the February holiday you can get me. It's Mardi Gras. Forget flowers. Find me a professional bakery king cake, preferably with a little baby Jesus in it to eat, and I'll love you for at least a while!

  • So I don't know much about mainstream heroes, but I know a lot about The Venture Bros and One Punch Man. Literally nobody in TVB, unless I'm allowed to say that like Hunter mobilizing the entirety of the Office of Secret Intelligence. OPM has a few. Saitama obviously. He's immune to the law of cause and effect. He can punch holes in reality and spacetime. Tatsumaki can scoop up entire cities and crush the monster goop out of them. She can stop bombs and use them herself. She could smash a military base together and hurl the explosive result at another base. She couldn't be stopped in our world. Metal Knight has an army of machines that might be able to stand up. He probably doesn't have the pure numbers, but he has us on technology handily. I think the real question is can he stop our immense firepower and artillery from overwhelming his robot army. I'm not totally up to date, but I haven't seen enough of Blast to give it to him with confidence. I want to say Blast could on roughly Saitama logic: his punches rend space and time. There was a period where Garou could have, but he arguably wasn't a hero at the time. That's probably it for OPM.

  • I have crazy dreams all the time. I try to get to sleep with enough thc in my system to prevent them x_x

  • Not of the aliens gave Martha Washington the technology to become impregnated by the Bigfoot variety, but there are always plenty of conspiracies on Hexbear. It's wild how deep into history revision and denial some people will go to justify believing fairly reasonable things.

  • Our Flag Means Death is upbeat in the first season. The second is more dramatic, but also fucking phenomenal. A romantic adventure comedy becomes a romantic adventure dramedy.

  • I don't? They're very contiguous. I gotta have cannabis from work to sleep. My coworkers include friends who I want to be in touch with off the clock, people who know my wife and are always welcome in my home.

I genuinely love my job, and my assistant manager is my best friend. If the GM wasn't so good about empowering people to do their jobs their way, I'd be incredibly vulnerable to exploitation. Instead me and my best friend are empowered to run a dispensary way better than the last management team because it's just the kind of people we are.

  • As long as the little brick box that is my dispensary wants to sell weed as much as I do, we're good. I'd greet it heartily and and feed it edibles.

  • This isn't important, but I hate it that every time I read ADF it's these fucks and not the Anna Delvy Foundation. I kinda admire her. I definitely respect her. But any time I read ADF it's hate and never art. And that sucks. I had reserved that acronym in my lexicon for a funny reference. And they fucked that up.

  • That's actually what I like about these sorts of communities. I recognize a few super posters and a few specific regulars from communities I frequent. (@skymtf@lemmy.blahaj.zone I want you to know that I think about you and you matter <3) But mostly I'm dealing with disembodied ideas and content. It's a conversation with strangers who meet up to talk about certain subjects. We get little bits of each other in a vacuum. We have to address only that bit we're given, because we don't know each other.

I use other social media for real community. Lemmy is for camaraderie. We meet to do something, not to just be.

  • Yeah, couple times, but not for years now. Fetishizing pre-industrial times sounds nice if you aren't one of the many people who would have died or lived with an untreated illness or condition your whole life. You should look into what they did to that man in college. Then find someone more stable making similar points and saying similar things. Industrial skepticism isn't unique to Ted Kaczynski. The truama and subsequent mental illness that pervade his theory and philosophy is.

  • The absolute irony of declaring a space an echo chamber in the third level of a post you made all by yourself xfd

  • Joke's on you, sassy crab. Sunday is my Friday! I have three days off now! Weekend is on!
