  • Do the same thing with combat. A barbarian that says "hit with axe" every round just gets a regular chance to hit. A barbarian that says "I charge in yelling my battle cry swinging my great axe while kicking over the chair between us as I advance" might get a +2 to attack that round (as long as they don't use the same thing every time.)

  • A character performing a persuasion check should attempt to describe and act out their persuasion.

Once complete, the GM should evaluate the description, and use that as a modifier to the persuasion roll.

A character that says "ummm, IDK, I guess I just try to influence them using my high charisma" should get no modifiers to the roll. A character who tries but entirely flubs the conversation should get a -1 (when appropriate), a great performance with an entertaining flourish to the description should get at least a couple ++ to the roll.

  • Because the human brain is weird like that. Half the stuff you think you remember as a kid probably didn't happen exactly how you think it did, and extremely traumatic moments can create false memories very easily.

It's very common for people to misremember things, especially in situations like that.

He could be lying, but it's just as likely he believes what he's saying.

  • However, the United Kingdom increased its holdings by US$55 billion and Belgium by US$58.9 billion during the same period to June.

China has increased its gold reserves by 6.05 million ounces in the past year, or 9.7 per cent, to 68.69 million ounces at the end of July.

Interesting change in China's holdings, but not surprising. China and the US have been trying to separate their economies for a while now. Having them so intertwined has been a problem on both sides.

  • Not trying to minimize what happened here, because with all the information provided, it certainly sounds like corners were cut, and people acted recklessly, which ended in tragedy.

That being said, it's certainly possible that he doesn't actually remember correctly what happened. A gun firing happens in a fraction of a second, and memories are extremely faulty. He might honestly believe that he didn't pull the trigger.

First hand accounts are extremely unreliable, and need to be taken in context when trying to prove anything in court.

  • But the music industry (mostly) figured it out. You can get the same song from a subscription to any number of services.

TV/Movies are still siloed. Once they figure out that it's better to let you subscribe to one service and watch anything, that's the day that most piracy will stop.

  • I picked up a USB external blu-ray writer for pretty cheap with a USB-C -> MicroUSB cord. I almost never use it, but when I do, it's absolutely needed. It takes it's power from the USB port so it's super easy to just throw in a drawer for it's one use every other year.

  • I'd like to see a real study on this, because this "news" is a few layers of hearsay, and I'm not sure it would hold up to a real investigation.

It certainly matches what their behavior is, but I don't know how much you'd really see evangelicals actually saying what is being claimed. Honestly, I don't even know anymore, which is why I think a real poll/survey/study is needed.

  • Very telling that big sites are only promoting VPN services that heavily advertise... i.e. - give commissions on signups.

The list of providers they "tested" aren't even that complete, they didn't even bother to pretend to check out ones that won't give a kickback for promotion.

They don't give specific recommendations, but the EFF has a good list of things to look for in a provider. https://ssd.eff.org/module/choosing-vpn-thats-right-you
