  • I have the same experience. I find somehow the call blocking is more robust on Samsung. I had no idea that they even had that feature parity.

The perception of Samsung being full of bloat is a misnomer. Can't get rid of lots of Google apps on the pixel and can't change the photo gallery app or the camera app.

I have my own Cloud and don't want to use Google's, and Samsungs software was much more receptive in me de-googling the phone the way I wanted to with my own self hosted photo backup software.

Also I don't have a hand warmer for a phone now.

  • The same behavior happened when sync came out. Endless complaints about an app being from on app store with the option to pay the hard working developer for their work.

Do they go on public transit complaining that see ads there too? At least when you pay for the app the ads go away forever.

  • I say this one is canon and it's proof that Trip didn't die in enterprise. The hologram just got super inaccurate and twisted as it got passed around with lossy compression in a game of telephone like an old meme.

  • I would agree with this answer for the Zeitgeist of how Canadians see Albertans from a stereotypical way, and this is true for our rural population. But politically, Ontario takes the Alabama cake for voting in so many Ford's so many times. How do you guys keep doing this?

  • If this was a different franchise I would see this as hyper commercial pandering and useless plastic junk.

But every year my good friends and I have an ornament exchange party where we are supposed to bring an ornament that embodies ourselves in some way or another. This would be perfect, as obviously me being here I love star trek, animals and Data is one of my favorites. Alas on the website I don't see a direct way to buy this in Canada.

  • This makes sense.

All they care about is the general well-being of the temporal federation. Perhaps it's so difficult and wiggly wobbly that it's worthwhile letting one of your temporal agents languish in the 1900s for decades if in the end it works out for the timeline. Especially if strange circumstances somehow strengthen their position in the temporal wars.

  • Why were the temporal police so concerned with Janeways earlier infractions but totally left her alone when she came back to rescue voyager earlier, turbo fucked the borg and brought future tech with her in the finale? Any fun headcanons or observation there?

  • I have had USB-C phones, battery packs and other devices since 2015. Not a single port or cable has failed me so far.

Worrying about the durability of USB-C 7 years later seems unwarranted. But I can see wanting to use up your lighting cable subscription before moving on.

I told my partner, just get the phone ASAP when you can, it's the only non usb thing we have left.

  • The US centricity is actually an interesting topic in-universe. Especially because the federation should try and work hard to make member worlds feel equal. Having so much Americentrism would alienate the aliens. The federation has done a bad job of this 😆

Of course the real answer is that the people that make it are American and it's probably largely for American audiences and therefore producers and writers feel like they need to show people things they are comfortable with. And when they do show other cultures they are seen through an American lens. Which is why the Irish were so cliche that O'Brien even teleported the straw around their feet when they beamed into Picard's enterprise. 👨‍🌾

Which Lemmy am I in? Which way to the daystrom institute?
